| On 30 November 2016,the names of the twenty-four suns were inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.The 24 solar terms have a rich nurturing value and are a valuable spiritual treasure.Studies have shown that there are various school activities related to the festivals in elementary school.In many elementary schools in Shanghai,Changzhou,Xiamen and Shenzhen,festival activities are increasingly becoming an important tool and grip for school reform and character development.Therefore,the author combines the traditional culture of the twenty-four solar terms with the development and practice curriculum in primary schools,so that students can learn about the traditional twenty-four solar terms culture in an enjoyable classroom environment,combining theory and practice.This paper integrates the culture of the twenty-four solar terms with the characteristics of elementary school A in Jilin Province,and takes the development and practice of the school-based curriculum of "knowledge of the twenty-four solar terms" as the starting point.Survey and interview methods were used to find out students’ and teachers’ preferences and attitudes towards the design and practice of the school curriculum.Interviews with the school developers who organized and planned the school-based curriculum for the "Twenty-four Solar Terms" revealed how the school-based curriculum was developed in School A.We gained an understanding of the process,challenges and recommendations for the implementation of School A,which will serve as the basis for further writing.This thesis is a case study of the development of a school curriculum at School A in Jilin County,and is divided into five parts: Part I: Introduction.The report summarises the strengths and weaknesses of the curriculum design and reflect on the development of school-based curriculum,practical activities and teaching strategies in School A.Part 2: Developing the school-based curriculum ’Knowledge of the 24 Solar Terms’.School-based learning aims to enrich school culture,stimulate students’ development potential and improve teachers’ professionalism by developing school-based materials.Part III: "Knowing the 24 solar terms" school curriculum practice and learning activities.The process of developing the school A-curriculum is reproduced,starting with the planning of activities in the northern region and the reflection on the integration of the school curriculum across the disciplines.Part IV:Reflections and suggestions on the integration of the "24 Solar Terms" into the upper elementary school curriculum.This part elaborates on the integration of school-based curriculum into the upper elementary classroom,how to design the school-based curriculum,including goal setting,content selection,and implementation feedback.The fifth major part provides an outlook on the results of the paper.Using the curriculum development of "Knowledge of the 24 Solar Terms" in School A as a case study,this study analyzes how school learning materials are developed and how they can be used effectively in the classroom,and concludes that knowledge and practical activities about the traditional Chinese 24 solar terms need to be integrated with the learning characteristics of upper elementary school students.The research process and evaluation recommendations for the school-developed materials are also specified.The report summarizes the problems found during the actual research and makes reasonable suggestions for the development of the school curriculum.The results of the study are implemented into the design of a school-based curriculum that meets the traditional cultural characteristics of the campus in order to continuously cultivate students’ cultural confidence and national temperament,promote the learning characteristics of the school,and encourage students to take on the great responsibility of passing on their outstanding culture. |
