They are a type of young people who live in the countryside and in the towns, and their unique style and psychological characteristics, which are outside the mainstream of society, pose a certain danger to society. Some people call them ’grey youth’ and others define them as’ village thugs’,and past sociologists have conducted rigorous studies on their definition, causes and ways of living. However, due to the complex environment in which they grow up and their secrecy,it is difficult to understand them in depth and systematically, and to conduct research. However, due to the complex and secretive environment in which they grow up,it is difficult to gain a deeper and more systematic understanding of them. So,in the same social environment, why do some young people grow up healthy while others become street corner youths? Are external factors or individual reasons more influential in the formation of street corner youths? What factors are missing that lead to the formation of street corner youths? What are the alternatives to correct them? In this paper,we use the ’dual system model’ to analyse the causes of street corner youth, focusing on the impact of changes in the socio-emotional and cognitive control systems on adolescents during adolescent brain development, and seek positive alternatives to prevent and correct the deviant behaviour of street corner youth.Firstly, this paper compares the relevant domestic and international studies, defines the concept of street corner youth, conducts a questionnaire survey on 60 youths in M town, and twelve typical cases were selected for in-depth interviews and research discussions.Previous studies on the formation of street corner youth have mostly been conducted from various external perspectives such as sociopathy, subculture and family, but they have neglected the control of the individual’s brain over the development of events in the process of growth. Therefore, this paper proposes to start from the needs of the adolescent brain and draw on the results of neurological developments in the brain to reconceptualise the mechanisms of behavioural change during adolescent growth from a scientific perspective,to rationalise the causes of street corner youths and the production of criminal behaviour, and to provide positive alternatives to the missing parts of street corner youths in their growth process,so as to reduce their deviant behaviour. This can provide theoretical support for subsequent social work interventions and corrections from a case-by-case perspective to help street corner youths return to mainstream society. |
