Middle school stage is a key period for students’ learning career,and middle school students spend most of their time in school.Therefore,good school adaptation on the one hand can be conducive to the physical and mental health development of middle school students,on the other hand,it will also play a positive role in promoting their future social life adaptation.Studies have found that family environment is one of the important factors affecting school adaptation.Previous studies on school adaptation mainly focused on parenting style,parenting attitude,family economic status and so on.in family environment,while few studies focus on the influence of parent-child cohesion on school adaptation and its psychological mechanism.However,the level of paternity in the family environment affects their adaptive behaviors such as school adaptation.Therefore,this paper focuses on the influence of parent-child family factor on school adaptation,as well as the chain mediation role of positive coping style and psychological resilience.In this study,1300 middle school students in two middle schools in Xinyang City,Henan Province were investigated by group sampling to investigate the impact of parent-child affinity on school adaptation,and to explore the mediating roles of positive coping style and psychological resilience between parent-child affinity and school adaptation.Correlation analysis,regression analysis,mediation effect testing and other methods were used to explore the relationship between parent-child affinity,school adaptation,positive coping style and psychological resilience of middle school students.The study found that:(1)There are significant gender differences in parent-child cohesion and psychological resilience,with boys scoring significantly higher than girls in parent-child cohesion and psychological resilience;There were significant differences in school adaptation in terms of whether or not the only child was the only child,and the school adaptation level of the non-only child was significantly higher than that of the only child.(2)There are two significant positive associations between parent-child cohesion,positive coping style,psychological resilience and school adaptation.(3)Positive coping style play a complete mediating role between parent-child cohesion and school adaptation,with the mediation effect size accounting for 87.1% of the total effect size;psychological resilience plays a partial mediating role between parent-child cohesion and school adaptation,and the mediation effect size accounts for41.94% of the total effect size.(5)The positive coping style and psychological resilience of middle school students have a chain mediating role in the relationship between parent-child cohesion and school adaptation,and the size of chain mediation effect accounts for 19.35% of the total effect size.This study found that positive coping style and psychological resilience can play a chain mediating role in parent-child cohesion and school adaptation relationship of middle school students.The results can provide some suggestions for improving the school adaptation level of middle school students.
