Vocational education is a relatively weak link in China’s education system, and secondary vocational education is one of the important components of China’s vocational education, which mainly trains high-quality workers for China’s economic development.Students in secondary vocational school are in the rebellious period of youth.Compared with students in general education, their psychological development is more complex. If the intervention is not timely or ineffective,it will directly affect the growth of secondary vocational students, and affect the development of secondary vocational education and national talent cultivation. The theory of overlapping spheres of influence put forward by American scholar Epstein believes that families, schools and communities have their own, interactive and overlapping effects on the growth of students, between them and among them.As a guiding theory in the practice of home-school cooperation, this theory focuses on student-centered,and under the guidance of the school, establishes a joint education mechanism for schools, families and communities,so as to jointly ensure the healthy growth of students.Under the guidance of the theory of overlapping spheres of influence, this study selected Xinyang Y secondary vocational school as an example, designed a questionnaire and an interview outline by comprehensively using the research methods of literature, questionnaire and interview, conducted surveys and interviews respectively for students, parents, teachers and community workers, investigated the current situation of home-school cooperation in secondary vocational schools, analyzed its existing problems and reasons,so as to put forward improvement measures. The study mainly consists of five parts:The first part is the introduction. It mainly describes the origin and significance of this selection, crystallizes the purpose, key and difficult points, innovation points, ideas and methods of this research and analyzes the research status at home and abroad in combination with relevant literature, commenting on it.The second part is the definition and theoretical basis of home-school cooperation. It mainly expounds the concepts of secondary vocational school and home-school cooperation as well as the function and characteristics of home-school cooperation, and analyzes the background, theoretical connotation and practical significance of the theory of overlapping spheres of influence on home-school cooperation,so as to lay a theoretical foundation for this study. The third part is a survey of the current situation of home-school cooperation in Xinyang Y secondary vocational school. This study takes Xinyang Y Secondary Vocational School as the research object, and understands the current situation of home-school cooperation from four aspects: students, parents, teachers and community workers.Under the application of the theory of overlapping spheres of influence, the current situation of students, the respective influence of the three main bodies, the joint influence of the two and the joint influence of the family, school and community in the cooperation between families and schools are analyzed.Through investigation and interview, the most prominent of these problems are insufficient endogenous motivation of both home and school, poor communication between home and school, insufficient self-efficacy of both home and school, and low social recognition of community participation in home-school cooperation. The existence of these problems seriously affects the effectiveness and development of home-school cooperation. The fourth part analyzes the reasons of the home-school cooperation problems of Xinyang Y secondary vocational school. In view of the problems found in this survey, the causes are analyzed in combination with the theory of overlapping spheres of influence. The findings mainly concentrate on four points: the imperfection of relevant national laws and regulations and evaluation mechanism, the imperfection of school policies and evaluation system, the inadequacy of family education competence and the unobtrusive value of community participation in home-school cooperation. The fifth part is the improvement measures of home-school cooperation of Xinyang Y secondary vocational school.Based on the theory, the home-school cooperation of Xinyang Y secondary vocational school can be improved from four aspects: perfecting the legal regulations and evaluation system for home-school cooperation, strengthening the awareness of cooperation between vocational schools and parents, enhancing the ability of parents to participate in vocational home-school cooperation, and highlighting the value of community participation in vocational home-school cooperation.
