With the continuous reform of education in China, music curriculum standards have also undergone continuous reform. In 2003,the Ministry of Education issued the "Standard for Music Courses in Ordinary High Schools(Experimental Draft)",which set the content of music teaching in high schools into six modules, with "music appreciation" as a compulsory course, and "singing","performance","creation","music and dance",and "music and drama performance" as optional courses, expanding the scope of music courses, taking into account the different interests of students,It also embodies the concept of "facing all students and emphasizing personality development" in the new curriculum standards, which is the first time that dance has been incorporated into music classes. In 2007,in the newly issued "Music Curriculum Standards for General High Schools(2017 Edition)",the "Music and Dance" module was changed into a compulsory course, while the "Dance Performance" optional compulsory module was added. The original one compulsory and five optional courses were changed into six compulsory(optional)courses, six optional compulsory courses, and three optional courses. The required courses include six modules: music appreciation, singing, performance, music editing, music and dance, and music and drama. They are basic courses.Selective compulsory courses include six modules: chorus, ensemble, dance performance, drama performance, basic music theory, and solfeggio, which are corresponding extensions and necessary supplements to relevant modules of the compulsory courses. This measure can also reflect the gradual attention paid to dance in quality education, which plays an important role in the development of students. This article selects students and teachers from Haikou C High School as the research objects, adopts empirical research methods, explores the demands of teachers and students through questionnaires and oral interviews, deeply understands the current teaching situation of the "Music and Dance" module course, and then analyzes this. This paper is divided into an introduction and four core parts. The introduction mainly introduces the research background, research status, research purpose, and research significance. On this basis,it describes the research ideas and methods of this article. The first part is to elaborate the significance of integrating dance into music classes and the significance of the compulsory(optional)high school music module course "Music and Dance" for students. The second part is the investigation of dance teaching in Haikou C High School and the analysis of the investigation phenomenon, mainly through interviews with teachers, interviews, and questionnaires to students.Through an analysis of the current situation of the dance curriculum setup and implementation in Haikou C High School, the allocation of teachers, the corresponding facilities of the school, the school evaluation system, the methods and feelings of teachers teaching, and the students’ learning of dance, suggestions are proposed for better completing the compulsory(optional)module course "Music and Dance" in high school music. The third part is an analysis of dance teaching in music classrooms by music teachers and dance teachers in music majors-taking the fifth unit of "Music and Dance" as an example.Through the analysis of teaching examples and student feedback, the advantages and disadvantages of music and dance professional teachers in implementing dance teaching in music classes are analyzed and sorted out.The fourth part is based on the previous survey of the situation of Haikou C Middle School, the teaching methods and feelings of teachers, and the wishes of students.Based on my undergraduate major in music, majoring in dance, and my graduate experience in discipline teaching(music),combined with my knowledge and understanding of these two disciplines,I propose suggestions for improving the "Music and Dance" module curriculum.
