| As an Olympic sport with a large international influence, owning to natural practice environment,no physical confrontation, and long playing years, golf has attracted so many youth athlete.Being the cornerstone of the development of competitive sports, the youth athletes’ competition skills directly affect the potential and prospects of the sport. At the same time, resilience is used to overcome adversity in their careers and is one of the most important factors for athletes to succeed. What’s more, good coping styles can effectively make adjustments when athletes face trials. Therefore,it is necessary to deeply study the effects of resilience and coping styles on athletic performance,in order to provide theoretical references for improving the athletic performance of junior golfers. In this study, the Youth Resilience Scale and the Chinese Athletes Coping Stress Scale were used as research tools to explore the relationships between resilience, coping styles and athletic performance.279 youth golfers, including 182 males and 97 females, were investigated.Common method bias test, descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test,one-way ANOVA,correlation analysis and regression analysis were adopted on the data using SPSS26.0,and the hypothesis model was tested for fit and mediating effect with the software AMOS26.0,and the above variables were analyzed and discussed in depth. The results of the study are as follows:(1)Resilience of junior golfers was at a moderate to high level. There were no significant differences in total resilience scores by gender and group, but with significant differences in years of training and sport level. In terms of specific dimensions, there were significant differences in goal focus, emotional control and family support by group,as well as sport level, training year.(2)Junior golfers use a variety of coping styles when faced with stresses. There were no significant differences between the different coping styles in terms of gender, avoidance coping in terms of group.is of significant difference in terms of sport level. It is of significant differences in solving problems with focused coping and focused emotion coping and overcoming coping in terms of years of training.(3)Resilience,coping style and athletic performance of junior golfers were significantly correlated.(4)Resilience positively predicted athletic performance.Among them, goal focusing and family support dimensions positively predict athletic performance.(5)Solving problems with focused coping and focused emotional coping positively could predict athletic performance, but avoidance coping can negatively predict athletic performance.(6)Coping style partially mediated the effects between resilience and athletic performance, accounting for 62.8% of the total effect.According to the research results, here comes the corresponding suggestions:(1)Coaches should help players to improve their resilience level, mainly in four aspects:establishing friendly relationship between coaches and players, using pressure training to improve players’ resilience level, setting reasonable goals, and cultivating players’ independence on purpose.(2)Resilience can be included in the assessment scope for player selection.(3)Coaches should encourage players to master multiple coping styles and develop appropriate coping strategies.(4)Players should consciously improve the effectiveness of coping.(5)Resilience and coping styles are synergistic to improve athletic performance. |
