New requirements have been put forward for primary and secondary education since the implementation of "double reduction",which has a great effect on students,parents,schools and even the whole society.In this context,how to effectively reduce the burden of students’ schoolwork and provide students with high-quality after-school services is an urgent problem that needs great consideration of teachers and schools.Particularly,it is a difficult problem for educational researchers to know how to build an after-school service system that both meets students’ individual needs and promotes their overall development,which is a challenge for educational researchers.This study,in combination with the goal of "double reduction",determines that the after-class service effectiveness is measured by "students’ development,parents’ satisfaction,and teachers’ recognition",which specifically refers to the following aspects: for students,considering the degree of achievement of after-class service in "reducing students’ homework burden","reducing students’ after-school training",and "improving students’ overall development";for parents,consider "whether the after-school service is conducive to solving the difficulties of parents’ picking up children","whether it reduces the financial burden of parents’ after-school training","whether it relieves the burden of parents’ tutoring children’s homework","whether parents see the effectiveness of after-school service and choose to participate voluntarily";for teachers,consider "whether they will recognize the value of after-school service and actively participate","whether it is beneficial to the professional development of teachers".This study was conducted in Bazhong S Middle School,and interviews and questionnaires were distributed to students,parents and teachers around the effectiveness of after-school services in the middle school.The survey results show that the after-school service in junior high school has achieved initial results.For example,the after-school service is generally recognized and supported by students and parents;school-based curriculum is enriched;the problems of parents are largely solved;students’ homework completion is improved.It also reduces the financial pressure of parents.However,through analysis,the school was found to have some problems in the process of after-school service,which are as follows: the service content is not rich enough to meet the individual needs of students;the teachers of after-school service are relatively single,and teachers are not highly motivated to participate;the burden of homework and out-of-school training for some students has increased instead of decreasing;the school facilities are not complete,and the satisfaction rate of service subsidies is low.The main reasons for these problems are: the government’s insufficient protection in terms of human and financial resources,infrastructure and institutional support;teachers and parents have a biased understanding of after-school services,and their education concept needs to be updated;schools have not yet been able to build an integrated after-school service curriculum system and evaluation system.Thinking of these problems in the after-school service,this study proposes strategies to improve the effectiveness of it.First,use internal and external resources to enrich the content of the after-school service.Second,strengthen the construction of teaching staff to improve the quality of the service.Third,better the homework design to improve the level of homework tutoring.Fourth,establish a sound institutional mechanism to guarantee the benign operation of the after-school service.Fifth,build a collaborative education mechanism between the family,school and society to create good education ecology.It is expected that the above strategies can further improve the quality of after-school service and promote the after-school service to develop towards high-quality,sustainable and standardized direction.
