| In order to fully implement the Party’s education policy and meet the needs of qualified talents for the diversified development of the economy and society,the reform of the innovative college entrance examination in Liaoning Province was officially launched in April 2019,,using the "3+1+2" subject selection method to carry out the General High School academic level examination,and officially implemented the General High School Geography Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition).Since then,subject selection has become a significant challenge which every high school student must face.As a bridge subject of natural sciences and social sciences,geography has a mixed character of arts and sciences,which makes it difficult for students to decide whether to choose geography in the process of subject selection.It is a lack of experience that makes it is tough for school and parents to provide effective guidance when it comes to geography selection.High school students can only make election decisions based on their interest and evaluation of geography learning in the first year of high school,which inevitably leads to many following problems.Under such circumstance,finding the main problems in the selection of geographical subjects,effectively guiding and recommending through stable and quantifiable indicator science have become urgent problems to be solved.Fortunately MBTI as a common educational tool points a right direction for high school career education.As a common tool for career education in high school,MBTI personality type just points out a new direction for solving this problem.In the research,I first clarified the relevant concepts of MBTI personality types and different dimensions through my own career education experience and literature review explaining the theoretical relationship with the geographical selection problem.Then,the main problems which exists in the current selection of geographical subjects are summarized through questionnaire and statistical analysis.Eventually the MBTI’s effect on the selection of geographical subjects are analyzed.The content of the questionnaire mainly includes the current situation of the selection of geography subjects for ordinary high school students and the Chinese standard version of the MTTI-M scale.Through the survey results of the first students who participated in the innovative college entrance examination in No.24 Middle School in Anshan City,I found that at present there are four aspects of the current situation of geography subject selection for ordinary high school students.First,the proportion of geography in ordinary high schools is more than half,most of whom are female students.The main reason for this tendency is that in the first year of high school geography is more simple,Which makes students think it easy to learn.Second,students who have objective and conservative understanding of geography,their own learning ability and career choice are more likely to choose geography.Third students who have passions for geography,more efficient learning habits and trust teachers and classmates are more likely to choose geography.Fourth,students want most objective and accurate guidance and evaluation on geography learning.However,nowadays schools and parents guidance are far away from satisfaction.The influence of the personality types reflected in the questionaire on the selection of geography and geography academic performance,include the following four aspects: first,students who occupy outstanding advantages in each dimension include E,S,F,P,NF,SJ,ENFP,ESFP,ISTJ and ESFJ;Second,students who have a significant tendency to geography include F,NT,ISFP,ISTJ,INFJ.Students who have an insignificant tendency to geography include T,NF,ESP,ENFJ;Third,students who gain outstanding geography academic advantages include I,S,SJ,INTJ,ISP,ENFJ,ESTJ.Students who have significant disadvantages in geography academic performance include E,N,NF,ENJ;Fourth the types between geography selection tendency and outstanding geography academic performance have a low match.Only ISTP has both the tendency and high score.T and ENFJ show high score but have no tendency to choose geography.In view of the current problems combined with the specific function of MBTI,my suggestions are as follows.First,students should have a comprehensive understanding of geography before the selection.Second,students should have an objective and complete evaluation on the ability of learning geography before the selection.Third students should keep a balance between ability and interest before decision.Meanwhile I want to give some advice on geography teaching.To start with,our teachers should pay attention to cultivating students interest in geography to make learning it better.What’s more we should establish a perfect evaluation system of geography ability based on MBTI.In addition,I recommend that we should create a positive environment for learning geography.Ultimately,we should concentrate on the all-round development of students geography core literacy. |
