In 2022,the Ministry of Education promulgated the "Curriculum Standards for Moral and Legal Education in Compulsory Education",which distilled the five core competencies and explicitly stated the need to cultivate students’ sound personalities,enabling them to have a correct understanding of themselves,cherish life,regulate and manage their emotions,and possess a healthy psychological quality of optimism,tenacity,self-reliance and self-improvement.The ideological and political course is the key course for implementing the fundamental task of cultivating moral character and educating people.Moral and legal education in junior high school is the ideological and political course in compulsory education,aiming to lay a solid foundation of ideology for cultivating a new generation in the era who regards the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation as their responsibility.Strengthening life education in junior high school is conducive to developing correct awareness of life and promoting the healthy and upward growth of students.This article focuses on strengthening life education for junior high school students,using scientific methods such as literature research,textbook analysis,and questionnaire surveys to analyze the shortcomings of life education in moral and legal courses for junior high school students,and puts forward countermeasures and suggestions on how to strengthen it.The paper consists of four parts:The first part provides an overview of life education and its theoretical foundation,and explains the necessity of life education in moral and legal courses for junior high school students.Life education for junior high school students is both a practical necessity for campus safety and a necessary condition for students’ healthy development.The second part analyzes the shortcomings and reasons of moral and legal education’s life education in junior high school.Based on the questionnaire survey,it has been found that life education in moral and legal education in junior high school has achieved certain results in recent years.For example,schools have begun to attach importance to and actively carry out life education.However,there are still shortcomings:junior high school students lack correct knowledge of life,teachers’ ability to teach life education is weak,there is a lack of family life education,and the implementation environment of life education is inadequate.The main reasons for the above shortcomings are: the special nature of the age group in which junior high school students are at,lack of life experience,and limitations in understanding the essence of life;the shortage of teachers for life education in schools;the weak linkages between families,schools,and society for life education,resulting in ineffective life education for junior high school students.The third part proposes strategies to optimize the life education in moral and legal education for junior high school.First,to establish correct concepts of life education;second,to scientifically improve the school’s life education system;third,to build a social environment that is conducive to life education;fourth,to develop classroom potential to enhance the attractiveness of life education.The fourth part designs teaching cases for life education related classes in moral and legal education in junior high school.
