According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics,by the end of 2022,China’s population aged 60 and above exceeded 280 million, indicating that China has entered a stage of moderate aging, and in this context, people’s attention to the issue of elderly care is becoming increasingly intense.Through field interviews and observations,it was found that there is a special group of elderly people-retired workers living alone in state-owned enterprise affiliated communities. There is a stereotype in society that they have no worries about their lives, but through field surveys,it is not entirely the case. For example, some of them have low retirement benefits, require work subsidies to earn income, and mostly live alone in old houses with poor surrounding facilities. In addition,a series of reasons such as decreased physical fitness, fewer trips, and weak social connections have led to their lack of better spiritual comfort, which needs to be addressed urgently. This article first reviews the relevant research on spiritual comfort at home and abroad, using the hierarchy of needs theory, empowerment theory, and social support theory as theoretical support, using participatory observation,in-depth interview, and questionnaire survey methods,to conduct field visits in the affiliated community of X Steel state-owned enterprises in Xiangtan City. And selected some retired workers who live alone in a certain community such as Xinyi Community,Xinsi Community,Xinwu Community, and Simiao Community as the research objects, the survey found that there are five aspects of spiritual needs for spiritual comfort in such groups: emotional aspects, interpersonal communication, entertainment activities, learning and growth, and self realization. After that,a multiple regression analysis was conducted to understand the influencing factors of spiritual comfort for retired workers who live alone.Through surveys and interviews,it was discovered that they have a low level of emotional attention, insufficient interpersonal communication, tight supply of entertainment services, difficult to meet learning and growth needs, and a single channel for providing spiritual comfort for self-realization.Finally,using group work methods,a series of group activities are carried out in order to solve the spiritual comfort problems of such groups to a certain extent, help them and similar elderly groups improve themselves, spend a happy old age,and promote social harmony.
