Since the use of Music Appreciation(2019 Edition)in senior secondary schools,the senior secondary music curriculum has ushered in new development opportunities and challenges.The textbook is the first-hand source for teachers’ instructional design and practice,and should be used to quickly grasp the features and overall content of the material under the general guidance of the General High School Music Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition Revised 2020).This paper takes Unit 5 "Poetry and Music-The Art of Song" as the teaching content,and explores the way of teaching the unit of high school music appreciation classroom from the current situation of teaching "Poetry and Music-The Art of Song",classroom teaching design,teaching practice analysis,teaching summary and reflection,based on teaching practice,and on the basis of Unit 5.The first chapter elaborates on the concepts related to unit teaching design and practice in high school music appreciation,starting from the high school music appreciation curriculum,teaching design and teaching practice.The basic concepts of teaching design under unit thinking and teaching practice under unit thinking are sorted out and a process approach to unit teaching design and practice is established.Chapter 2 explores the current state of teaching the ’Poetry and Music-The Art of Song’ unit.Through an analysis of the use of the textbook,a survey of high school students and teachers in a number of schools,it develops current issues in preparation for the next stage of teaching design and practice.Chapter 3 focuses closely on the theme of the unit,and provides teaching design ideas,teaching activities and teaching tools for Unit 5,"Poetry and Music-The Art of Song".Chapter 4 examines the teaching practice of the ’Poetry and Music-The Art of Song’ unit through a case study of the unit and analyses its effectiveness.Chapter 5 follows the analysis of the teaching design and practice of the ’Poetry and Music-The Art of Song’ unit,further analyses the process and the effects of the teaching practice,and concludes with recommendations for the design and implementation of teaching in high school music appreciation classes.The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the development of the high school music curriculum by providing teachers and scholars with reflections on practice as well as on the use of music materials.
