Research On The Impact Of China’s Digital Economy Development On Employment

In recent years,the digital economy has penetrated into all walks of life,enabling the real economy to further realize in-depth digital transformation driven by the digital economy.As of 2020,the scale of my country’s digital economy has reached 39.2 trillion yuan,accounting for 36.2% of GDP,and it supports the new requirements for high-quality and stable development of the Chinese economy with the world’s largest growth rate.The new crown epidemic in 2020 will undoubtedly have a huge impact on the global economy.As the epidemic continues and spreads for a long time,the development of the world economy will inevitably slow down,and the digital economy has just become a major strategic measure for China and other countries in the world to address the economic downturn and capture the commanding heights of economic competition.In order to explore the impact of the development scale of my country’s digital economy on the total employment,employment quality,and employment structure,the article first summarizes the correlation mechanism between the digital economy and the three in theory.Then,using 30 provincial panel data from 2013 to 2020 in my country,the entropy weight method is used to calculate the comprehensive score of the digital economy development evaluation system and employment quality development evaluation system,which is empirically tested on the basis of the above.The empirical results show that: first,the digital economy has a significant role in promoting the growth of total employment and the improvement of employment quality in my country;in terms of employment structure,the development of the digital economy can promote the development of high-tech industries.It is more obvious,and the proportion of female employment has not shown a positive result with the development of the digital economy.Furthermore,this paper conducts a regional heterogeneity test on the total employment and employment quality of the digital economy in the eastern,central and western regions.The results show that there is obvious regional heterogeneity in the impact of my country’s digital economy on the total employment and employment quality.Finally,starting from the two paths of industrial structure and production factor allocation,this paper further explores the heterogeneous impact of digital economy development on employment structure.The results show that the increase in the proportion of the tertiary industry may weaken the positive or negative effect of the digital economy on employment development,while total factor productivity can instead enhance the employment effect brought about by the progress of the digital economy.Finally,this paper further puts forward relevant policy suggestions based on the empirical results: vigorously develop new forms of employment in the digital economy;improve the development quality of digital industries;promote the digital development of traditional industries to solve the loss of labor caused by corporate relocation;pay attention to the cultivation of digital talents.
