As the subjective of the teaching process-teachers and students,oral arithmetic research is helpful to promoting the development of both at different levels,as well as promoting the interactive growth of the two in the process of oral arithmetic teaching.This study proposes that the problem of primary school students’ mathematical mental arithmetic ability is mainly influenced by the following three aspects: firstly,the demand of the times for students’ mental arithmetic literacy;Secondly,the curriculum standards place emphasis on students’ ability to perform mental arithmetic,and the content related to mental arithmetic is constantly mentioned;The third is the call for oral arithmetic teaching in teaching practice.In order to understand the current situation of primary school students’ mental arithmetic ability and propose teaching strategies that are conducive to the development of students’ mental arithmetic ability,the study used literature research,testing,questionnaire,and interview methods to investigate the current situation of third grade primary school students using explicit and implicit indicators that affect their mental arithmetic ability.Research has shown that(1)third grade students have a relatively high score in their overall mental arithmetic performance,which is relatively stable,and there is no gender difference.(2)The vast majority of students’ mental arithmetic speed meets the requirements of the curriculum standards,but there are significant differences in mental arithmetic speed.(3)Third grade students are greatly influenced by written arithmetic when performing mental arithmetic,with a single and mechanical method and poor flexibility.(4)Students have a more positive emotional attitude towards mental arithmetic,and their habits of mental arithmetic performance in general.Based on the above situation,suggestions are proposed to improve students’ mental arithmetic ability.Firstly,it is necessary to develop students’ sense of numbers and continuously improve their sensitivity to numbers through daily teaching.The second is to focus on teaching skills,methods,and strategies in oral arithmetic,and to emphasize the diversity of algorithms.The third is to enhance students’ understanding of the concepts of decimal system and digit value system,proficiently master knowledge such as arithmetic rules,order of operations,lay a solid foundation for students,and etc.The fourth is to cultivate students’ excellent habits of mental arithmetic,writing and examination. |
