Group Work Intervention In Peer Support Of The “Empty Nest Youth In City”

With the rapid development of China’s economy and the acceleration of urbanization,the group of young people who work independently outside gradually grows.Among them,the "empty nest youth",a special group,was born in the context of the rapid development of our society.They chosed to leave their homes,separated from the original social support system,and did not know how to solve the challenges of life and work in the new environment,so felt loneliness,boredom and other negative emotions.Peer support can speed up the subsequent adaptation to the off-site environment and help empty-nest youth integrate into urban life.Based on the practice of X Community in Weifang City,through the interview and demand assessment of six service objects in the early stage,this thesis finds that empty nest youth are faced with problems such as insufficient motivation for interpersonal communication,self isolation caused by living alone,and low participation in community activities.Under the guidance of social support theory and group dynamics theory,eight them group activities were carried out,including "making friends platform","accepting the world","peer interaction","volunteer team","community service" and "review and outlook",based on the needs of X community service objects,with the focus on group work methods,which can help the "empty nest youth" to improve their peer support so as to integrate into the life of other places more quickly.Through the evaluation of the process and results of the group work,it isconfirmed that the group work has a practical and effective role in improving the peer support of urban empty nest youth,and ultimately achieve the goal of making "empty nest youth" have a sense of community responsibility and urban belonging.Finally,on the basis of group summary and practical reflection,five suggestions are summarized to improve the support ability of urban empty nest youth peers: First,developed to the subjective initiative of empty nest youth;Second,strengthen to the empty nest youth’s interpersonal communication ability;Third,used to integrate social work methods;Fourth,established to a professional community social work team;Fifth,increased to the government’s policy care for empty nest youth.
