Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, policies such as the“Opinions on Strengthening Labor Education in Universities,Middle Schools, and Primary Schools”(Jiao Ji Yi [2015] No.4),the “Opinions on Comprehensively Strengthening Labor Education in Universities,Middle Schools, and Primary Schools in the New Era”(Zhong Fa [2020]No.7),the “Guidelines for Labor Education in Universities,Middle Schools, and Primary Schools(Trial Implementation)”(Textbook [2020] No.4),and the “Labor Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)”(Textbook [2022] No.2)have been successively promulgated,The country attaches great importance to labor education, and the people’s demand for high-quality labor education ultimately points to high-quality labor literacy. What is the current situation of primary school students’ labor literacy cultivation? What are the problems in the cultivation of primary school students’ labor literacy? What targeted suggestions can be made for the cultivation of primary school students’ labor literacy? These are the main concerns of this study.Self organization theory emphasizes that systems rely on internal forces to spontaneously and autonomously evolve from a disordered state to an orderly state.Openness is the source of order, and order is achieved through fluctuations. The cultivation of labor literacy is essentially a self organizing process.Based on a review and analysis of relevant literature and self-organization theory, this study designed tools such as questionnaires and interviews to focus on understanding the current situation of primary school students’ labor literacy development. The analysis found that the following problems exist in the current development of primary school students’ labor literacy:insufficient openness of primary school students’ labor, relatively simple labor content and labor methods, and weak openness of labor in time and space; The phenomenon of detachment destroys the basis of self organization;Teachers’ concerns about students’ discipline and safety issues during the labor process affect the implementation of labor practice courses;Inadequate labor practice conditions and strict management limit pupils’ labor opportunities and freedom of exploration. The cultivation of primary school students’ labor literacy is moving towards self-organization,which requires enriching the content and form of primary school students’ labor, enhancing the openness of primary school students’ labor in time and space, and requiring the unity of family, school, and community goals and full cooperation. For primary school students, discipline and safety are more prerequisites than openness.Only on the premise of ensuring the safety of primary school students, and when all students abide by labor discipline, can teachers return their dominant position to their students, making it possible for the self-organization of primary school students’ labor literacy to be smooth.Realizing the transformation from self-organization to self-organization requires teachers to be adept at observing pupils’ words, behaviors, emotions, etc.,and discovering hidden educational opportunities therein;Seize the opportunity, guide “ups and downs”,and actively intervene in a timely manner;More encouragement, affirmation, and praise will enable primary school students to feel their own power and give full play to the children’s own power in their own growth.
