"The outline of the 14 th Five-Year Plan" clearly states that we should firmly follow the new type of urbanization development. After the reform and opening up,the state and government have reformed the system, and the mobile population is no longer subject to various restrictions as in the past, and can now move freely between regions.A new round of technological revolution and industrial change has already taken place, and industries will integrate with each other using modern technology, giving rise to more new business models that will upgrade industries and bring into play industrial synergy effects, thus improving the overall operational efficiency of the economy and society. The combination of digital technology and urban scenarios will lead to a more developed transportation network, advanced medical care,a more pleasant environment, and more efficient employment, all of which will improve the livability of cities and,in turn, the quality of life of their residents.High-quality talent as a resource is competed for among cities, profoundly affecting their level of digital economy development. While cities are densely populated areas with significant agglomeration effects, digital development is directly related to residents’ willingness to stay. For this reason,we need to clarify the influence mechanism of the willingness to stay in cities, deeply understand the importance of digital economy to urban development, and properly guide the reasonable flow of mobile population through the construction of digital cities to ensure the stable attractiveness of cities,so as to provide an empirical basis for promoting the implementation of the new urbanization strategy. The main content of this thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter focuses on the research background and significance, compares the relevant domestic and international literature, introduces the research content, research methods and technology roadmap, and presents the innovation points of this thesis.Chapter 2 is a theoretical analysis, which introduces the concepts and theories related to the digital economy and the willingness to stay of the urban migrant population, and analyzes the influence mechanism between the two.Chapter 3 is the data source, variable selection and related descriptive statistics, which prepare for the subsequent empirical analysis.Chapter 4 is the empirical analysis, which focuses on testing the impact of the digital economy on the intention to stay of the urban mobile population. The direct effect of the digital economy on the intention to stay of the urban mobile population is analyzed by conducting a basic regression through an ordered probit model.Further,we use the mediating effect model to empirically study the mechanism of the digital economy’s influence on the urban migrant population’s intention to stay, specifically,we analyze the path of the digital economy’s influence on the urban migrant population’s intention to stay from three aspects: the livability of cities, the level of urban innovation and entrepreneurship, and social capital.Based on this,a heterogeneous analysis of the digital economy’s influence on the intention to stay of the urban migrant population is conducted by economic region, mobility length and differences in employment characteristics.Chapter 5 is to draw corresponding conclusions based on the previous study and to propose countermeasures. The study finds that the development of the digital economy has a positive effect on the willingness of the mobile population to settle in the city. The findings of this thesis remain valid after endogeneity issues and robustness tests. The following conclusions are obtained through path analysis, the positive incentive of digital economy on urban mobile population’s willingness to settle in cities is mainly achieved through enhancing urban livability and improving urban innovation and entrepreneurship. The digital economy reduces the promotion effect of social capital on urban mobile population’s willingness to live. The results of heterogeneity analysis show that at the city level, the development of digital economy in east, central, west and northeast regions has a positive effect on urban mobile population’s willingness to live;at the individual level, there is a significant positive promotion effect on mobile population who are long-term mobile and those whose status is self-employed workers.Based on the results of the above analysis, the following recommendations are proposed:firstly, the digital economy development level of each city should be improved, and the positive promotion effect of digital economy development on urban mobile population’s willingness to stay should be sustained. The second is to improve the livability of cities and the overall level of urban innovation and entrepreneurship with the deep application of digital technology, and to improve the living standard and talent attractiveness of urban mobile populations. It is also necessary to optimize the social capital structure of the mobile population, encourage the mobile population to develop and expand non-primitive social capital, and enhance local social capital.Furthermore, development plans for digital economy development in different regions should be tailored to local conditions and promote the development of deep integration of digital economy and industries,so that all industries can develop in a balanced way and stabilize the willingness of the mobile population to stay. Finally, the analysis shows that the long-term mobile and self-employed workers are more willing to stay in the city,so policies can be formulated for different groups of people in phases to guide the mobile population to stay in the city stably. |
