Nowadays,human society is developing rapidly,and the material conditions of people’s lives are becoming increasingly rich,but the new problems they face in development are also relatively increasing.In order to promote the high-quality development of social production practices,we must attach importance to and improve labor education in the new era.General Secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly issued important instructions on the development of labor and the strengthening of labor education.College students in the new era are the main force in the future socialist modernization construction.Therefore,labor education in ideological and political education in colleges and universities plays an important role and far-reaching significance.In 2020,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council issued the Opinions on Comprehensively Strengthening Labor Education in Universities,Secondary and Primary Schools in the New Era.The opinions put forward strengthening requirements for labor education for college,middle school and primary school students.In light of the needs of social development in the new era and the guidance direction proposed by the state,we should increase the importance of labor education in colleges and universities,and improve and update labor education in colleges and universities as soon as possible.Based on the development direction of labor education in the new era,this paper analyzes the actual situation of labor education in colleges and universities at this stage from multiple angles,elaborates the important role of labor education in colleges and universities in the new era,and analyzes the problems and causes of labor education in colleges and universities at this stage from three aspects: educational form,teaching content and practical activities,and puts forward corresponding countermeasures for the deficiencies.This article is divided into four chapters:The first chapter is an introduction,which mainly expounds the research background and research significance of strengthening labor education in colleges and universities in the new era,analyzes the research status and theoretical achievements of labor education at home and abroad at the current stage,expounds the research ideas and research methods of this paper,and the research innovation and research focus of this paper.The second chapter is an overview of the relevant theories of labor education in colleges and universities in the new era,first discussing the concept of related terms,and then studying the labor concept of Marx and Engels,and expounding the development process of the modern Chinese communists’ concept of labor.Industriousness is a traditional virtue of the Chinese nation and an important quality for the prosperity of the Chinese nation.Combined with the existing research theoretical achievements and the social development trend in the new era,the importance of labor education in colleges and universities in the new era is discussed,and the education model of promoting "morality,intelligence,physique,beauty and labor" through labor education is proposed.The third chapter is the analysis of the development status and existing problems of labor education in colleges and universities,and summarizes the research results and practice status of labor education in colleges and universities in recent years.This chapter expounds the disadvantages of the use of implicit education in labor education in colleges and universities at this stage,and students cannot form a systematic and integrated theoretical knowledge system in this form of labor education,and analyzes the current situation of aging labor education course content,and discusses the relatively single and lacking forms of relevant practical activities of labor education in colleges and universities at this stage.Chapter 4 is the countermeasures for strengthening labor education in colleges and universities in the new era,and corresponding countermeasures are put forward for the problems existing in labor education in colleges and universities at this stage discussed in Chapter 3.First,it establishes compulsory public courses and elective courses for labor education,so as to improve the teaching situation of only implicit education in the past;Second,the content of labor education courses needs to be updated in a timely manner,guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era,deeply studied and implemented Xi Jinping’s concept of labor,and at the same time integrated with the spirit of model workers and craftsmen,inheriting and carrying forward the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation;Third,collective activities such as holding themed essays,holding knowledge competitions,holding theatrical performances,and carrying out internships inside and outside the school enrich the practical forms of labor education.
