In March 2020,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China(CPC)and the State Council issued the Opinions on Comprehensively Strengthening Labor Education in Schools,Universities and Colleges in the New Era,explicitly requiring that labor education be integrated throughout the entire process,elements and dimensions as well as the entire field of talent training.Since then,the important position of labor education in cultivating talents for all-round development has been further emphasized.As an important part of China’s education system,kindergartens provide labor education that meets the requirements of national policies and the physical and creates an important way to achieve the harmonious physical and mental development of young children.As the inner motivation for labor education practice and the embodiment of teachers’ quality,kindergarten teachers’ view of labor education not only affects the operation and practice quality of kindergarten labor education,but also their own professional development.Therefore,it is urgent to conduct a study focusing on kindergarten teachers’ view of labor education.This study analyzed kindergarten teachers’ view of labor education and its influencing factors through literature,questionnaire and interview methods.Based on the existing policy contents and research results of the concept of labor education,the Questionnaire of Kindergarten Teachers’ Concept of labor education was compiled by ourselves to investigate the goal concept,content concept,approach concept,evaluation concept and significance concept of labor education of 398 kindergarten teachers in Hebei Province and the conditions of labor education guarantee.In order to improve the scientificness and authenticity of the research results,this study conducted semi-structured interviews with 20 teachers in Hebei Province by using the self-compiled Outline of Interviews on Kindergarten Teachers’ Views on Labor Education to deeply analyze the deficiencies of kindergarten teachers’ views on labor education and the causes behind them.And then from the three dimensions of education authorities,kindergartens and preschool teachers themselves put forward the feasibility of improving kindergarten teachers’ view of labor education.The results of the study show that teachers generally believe that the goals of labor education should be comprehensive,but misunderstand the skill goals;teachers generally believe that the content of labor education should be diversified,but still limit their understanding to self-care,planting and cleaning activities;teachers generally believe that the implementation of labor education should be infiltrated into daily life,the methods of labor education should be in line with the rules of children’s development and the need for home co-parenting to improve the effectiveness of education,but the awareness of children’s labor autonomy is insufficient,and the awareness of appropriate intensity is general;teachers generally believe that the content of labor education evaluation should reflect multi-dimension and the evaluation method is mainly verbal affirmation,but the evaluation standard lacks ethics;teachers generally recognize the significance of labor education in responding to both policy and promoting children’s development,but alienate labor education as a means of trouble or punishment.The study found that factors leading to the kindergarten teachers’ lack of knowledge of labor education include the influence of the traditional "knowledge-based" concept,the absence of top-level deployment,the lack of security conditions,the improper education awareness and methods of parents and the lack of teachers’ awareness of self-promotion.In order to better help kindergarten teachers update the concept of labor education,ensure the effectiveness of labor education and promote the professional growth of teachers,this study suggests that the education authorities expand the propaganda,guidance and monitoring efforts to help teachers form a correct concept of labor education.Kindergarten optimize the allocation of labor education resources,promote teachers to update the concept of labor education.Preschool teachers actively independent development,improve their own view of labor education. |
