This paper focuses on discussing the issue of changing the labor educational thought in new China. Firstly, the history of education since China was founded can be divided into three major stages, namely1950s,1960s-1970s and the period after reform and opening up. The labor view developed in education of that three times are called communistic, proletarian and technical labor ideas, by analyzing the representative educational works in three stages: Kaiipob’s Pedagogy, Liu Funian’s Pedagogy and Pedagogy of the education department in Nanjing Normal University. The Second part focuses on revealing the historical evolution of educational labor connotation in the course of education through analyzing labor education of historical periods and its social background. Finally, through comparing the labor content of different historical periods, it is indicated that the labor has the basic educational value to prepare for life and ultimate educational value for individual’s all-round development. However, the educational value is subject to, or depended on the political, economic and social development requirements. This study is helpful to offer some reference for problems, such as what is the modern labor education? why does the education intentionally or non-intentionally avoid the labor? Can the technology education replace the labor education?.
