In 2019,several provinces and cities in China simultaneously introduced a reform plan for the new college entrance examination,which included adopting the "3+1+2" subject selection model and integrating career education.This was a necessary step to better focus on student development and meet their evolving needs.However,Anhui Province only joined the new college entrance examination reform in 2021,and the implementation of career education in ordinary high schools,particularly in rural areas,remains uncertain.Biology is a comprehensive subject closely related to real-life situations and offers many opportunities for related professions.Therefore,it is an ideal subject to combine with career education.Incorporating career education into biology teaching can be particularly beneficial for students in rural ordinary high schools.It can help them with subject selection,develop career awareness at an early stage,improve their career knowledge and skills,and establish sound career ideals.This study examines the integration of career education into rural high school biology teaching in the Fuyang area.Firstly,the career development resources in the biology textbook column were analyzed and organized to provide biology teachers with useful tools for incorporating career education into their teaching.In this way,the teaching of biology can be more closely linked to career education,providing students with more practical educational content and helping them to better plan their future career direction.Secondly,a student questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate the current state of career development among rural high school students in five areas: basic information,self-awareness and understanding of career development,knowledge and attitude towards new college entrance examination subject selection,understanding of the integration of career education into biology teaching,and suggestions for improvement.From the perspective of biology teachers,the current situation of incorporating career education into rural high school biology teaching was investigated in five dimensions: basic information,understanding of the new college entrance examination,school’s implementation of career education,incorporation of career education into teaching,and difficulties and methods of incorporating career education into biology teaching.The survey revealed that students have a clear understanding of self-awareness but lack knowledge about future career direction,new college entrance examination subject selection,and the relationship between the new college entrance examination and career education.Teachers,on the other hand,lack career knowledge and teaching skills,have insufficient understanding of career development,and the current situation of career education in schools is not optimistic.Based on the study’s findings,the article proposes ways to incorporate career education into high school biology teaching and provides teaching designs and classroom teaching case analyses for Chapter 2,Section 3 "Carbohydrates and Lipids in Cells" and Chapter 3,Section 3 "Structure and Function of the Cell Nucleus".These examples provide biology teachers with a general idea of how to incorporate. |
