| There are many kinds of Chinese textbooks,and exercise design is a key issue in the process of textbook preparation.Exercise design integrates practicality,review,and feedback.Exercise is the carrier of students’ self-test and teachers’ monitoring.Efficient exercise design is of great significance for improving students’ learning effect.This paper takes the exercise design of “Happy Companion” as the research object and finds out the problems in the exercise design of “Happy Companion” and puts forward suggestions for improvement by investigating the exercise design of the textbook.The thesis is divided into five parts.The first part is an introduction,which mainly emphasize the background of the topic,relevant research reviews,research significance,and research methods.Based on the research status of Chinese textbooks in primary schools in Singapore,the research status of exercise questions in Chinese textbooks,and the research status of "Happy Companion" textbooks,it is found that the research on exercise design in Chinese textbooks mainly focuses on language elements and language skills.While,there is relatively little research on exercise design in Chinese textbooks in Singapore.The second part is an overview of the compilation of textbook exercise design.Based on the constructivist learning theory and Bloom’s taxonomy of educational objectives,it is proposed that the textbook should take students as the main body in exercise design,combine the characteristics of textbook exercise design,and pay attention to the purpose,pertinence,effectiveness,practicality,and integrity of exercises.The third part is an overview of the practice writing of "Happy Companion",analyzing the practice design of "Happy Companion" from four perspectives: the design mode of exercise questions,the classification of exercise questions,the number of exercise questions,and the design of exercise content.The characteristics of the practice design of “Happy Companion”are the arrangement of Chinese character exercises according to the four-priority principle,the promotion of online learning,the addition of an interactive evaluation system,the strong interest in illustrations and text,and the emphasis on cultivating learners’ values.Based on statistical analysis,the fourth part summarizes the problems in exercise design.The practice design of "Happy Companion" has problems such as a lack of stability in question size,single listening practice form,less communicative practice,and low grammar practice coverage.The fifth part proposes suggestions for the practice design of "Happy Companion" based on the characteristics of Singaporean children,including adding examples to change the practice form,combining language expression with thinking construction,and adding English annotations to the question stem. |
