Based on the principle of "local and mainstream",this paper selects the current Chinese textbook "Happy Partner" for primary schools in Singapore as the research object and analyzes the textbook on the basis of constructing a corpus.The vocabulary of the textbook in Singapore is at the second level among primary schools in Southeast Asia,but it is obviously higher than other textbooks at the second level.Meanwhile,due to the lack of specific vocabulary outline as the reference standard in previous studies of Chinese textbooks,only the vocabulary outline for international Chinese education can be used as the reference standard.In this paper,while referring to the International Chinese Language Education Chinese Proficiency Level Standard,This paper investigates the grade distribution of the textbook vocabulary based on the Chinese Vocabulary Grade Syllabus,analyzes the characteristics of the vocabulary of Happy Partner from multiple perspectives,and compares its vocabulary size and word frequency with those of the old Singapore official Chinese textbooks Chinese for Primary Schools and Chinese for Good Children,so as to provide data support for further research on Chinese textbooks for primary schools in Singapore.The main text of this paper discusses the basic information of Chinese textbooks for primary schools in Singapore,the statistical analysis of vocabulary size,word frequency and word length of Joy Companion,the distribution of vocabulary levels,the local words in the textbooks and the suggestions on the optimization of Joy Companion.It is found that compared with the previous edition of Chinese for Primary Schools in Singapore,the vocabulary difficulty of Happy Partner has increased somewhat,but it is lower than that of Good Chinese for Children before 2000,and the vocabulary selection and recurrence rate have been further improved.The vocabulary arrangement basically meets the requirements of the curriculum standards,but at the same time,there are some problems such as too much vocabulary,too fast growth of vocabulary and low recurrence rate.In view of these problems,this paper also puts forward the corresponding optimization suggestions,and also hopes to provide some reference value for the compilation of primary school Chinese textbooks in the future.
