STEAM education stems from the urgent need for innovative talents in the United States.This concept breaks the original disciplinary boundaries and uses interdisciplinary methods to organically integrate knowledge,reflecting the characteristics of comprehensiveness,practicality and activity between courses.STEAM education conforms to the development trend of basic education reform in China.More and more scholars have proposed to develop STEAM education and localize it.The main question of this study is "How to conduct the teaching design of high school function based on STEAM education concept",which is divided into the following three sub-questions:(1)What is the status quo of high school function teaching based on STEAM education concept?(2)What are the principles and strategies of functional teaching design in high school based on the STEAM education concept?(3)How about the design process and effect of functional teaching in high school based on STEAM education concept? Firstly,search literature,sort out the research status of STEAM education and functional teaching in high schools,and define related concepts and theoretical basis.Second,taking 256 students and three teachers in senior one of a high school in Hefei as the research objects,the current situation of functional teaching in high school based on STEAM education concept was investigated.Thirdly,from the perspective of theory analysis,explore the principles,strategies and processes of functional teaching design in high school based on STEAM education concept.Meanwhile,the "Application of Trigonometric Functions" section is selected as an example to carry out STEAM teaching design and give lessons.Student questionnaires and teacher interviews are used to evaluate the effect of the implementation of this lesson.Based on the above research process,the conclusions can be drawn as follows:(1)Under the traditional teaching mode,students are not enthusiastic enough about mathematics learning and have certain difficulties in learning function knowledge in high school,so students have certain demands for STEAM education.Teachers do not know enough about STEAM education,and they can integrate STEAM education elements into the teaching process but have not formed an idea system.(2)This research is an innovation in the functional teaching design of high school,which is conducive to the transformation of the current education model,and the integration of STEAM education into the functional teaching classroom of high school can promote students’ learning to a certain extent;(3)This study provides a practical case of STEAM education,and the teaching results obtained can not only be applied to the learning of functions in high school,but also be instructive to the learning of other knowledge blocks of mathematics and the teaching of other learning sections,which has certain practical significance.Based on the research conclusions,the following suggestions are made:(1)For schools,they should actively carry out relevant STEAM education courses training,provide STEAM education equipment,and encourage teachers to develop STEAM courses;(2)For teachers,they should have the concept of lifelong learning,consciously integrate the concept of STEAM education into teaching,and develop and design STEAM courses;(3)For students,they should look at problems from the perspective of mathematics and solve problems with interdisciplinary knowledge to achieve the re-creation of mathematical knowledge.
