Labor education is a new requirement of our Party for education in the new era,and it is also an important part of the socialist education system with Chinese characteristics to cultivate the all-round development of morality,intelligence,physical fitness,and aesthetics.The government attaches great importance to labor education and has promulgated many policies to promote the implementation and development of labor education in schools and universities.Higher vocational education occupies a pivotal position in China’s education system,The most important function is to cultivate specialized high-tech talents who are oriented to the front line of production,construction,management and service,and higher vocational colleges should actively carry out labor education and give full play to the advantages and characteristics of higher vocational colleges,such as "combination of industry,university and research" and "school-enterprise cooperation".With the advantages and characteristics of "industry-academia-research combination" and "school-enterprise cooperation",higher vocational colleges should cultivate social and employment-oriented high-quality talents.With the high quality development of China’s economy,"Made in China" and "Created in China" are becoming the high ground of competition in the international market,while at the same time,the manufacturing industry is facing the difficult situation of "skilled labor shortage".How to make high quality technical skill talents go,stay and work well,and gradually transform themselves into a great artisan,is a question worth thinking about in labor education of higher vocational colleges.Based on the above background,this paper reviews and organizes the literature and materials about labor education in higher vocational colleges in the new era at home and abroad,traces the roots of labor education in higher vocational colleges from the theory,outlines the policies,and remedies the mistakes from the reality,clarifies the definition of labor education in higher vocational colleges,outlines the main contents and ways of education,analyzes its contemporary characteristics,and discusses the value implication of strengthening labor education in higher vocational colleges.This paper discusses the value implication of strengthening labor education in colleges.This paper investigates the current situation of labor education implementation in six colleges in Sichuan Province,and learns that colleges have made certain achievements in labor education,but at the same time,there are problems such as unclear cognition and goals of labor education,poor content and forms of education,imperfect collaborative education model of family-school-society,unprofessional construction of labor education teachers and uncritical assessment and evaluation.According to the causes of the problems,we can propose corresponding countermeasures to solve them:planning the overall layout of labor education in the new era of higher vocational colleges,formulating and improving the labor education curriculum system,encouraging and supporting the collaborative education of family,school and society,building a high-quality professional teacher team,and establishing a reasonable and scientific education evaluation mechanism.
