The aging of the population has become more pronounced, with the demand for care among the disabled and semi-disabled elderly deepening. In order to expand the coverage of long-term care services for the disabled elderly and ensure the effective and standardized supply of services,China has established a long-term care insurance system. As the "sixth insurance" of social security,long-term care insurance is a system that provides care protection and financial compensation for the insured in case of loss of daily living ability, old age, illness or death(hereinafter referred to as "long-term care insurance").The implementation of the LTC insurance system has enabled the elderly to live a "decent" life in their old age.The majority of caregivers are women who provide LTC insurance services. The female caregivers who provide care services for the elderly at home(hereinafter referred to as "female LTC insurance workers")are traditionally seen as "the weak should be weak",and they are under great pressure to provide care in their daily work and family life.Fifteen female long term care insurance workers in a care facility in Shanghai were used to explore their resilience through a participatory action research approach using video vocalization. The study was based on positive psychology and biographical context theory, and combined with social work expertise,to design a project on video voice practice for female long-term care workers. At the individual level, female LTC insurance workers discovered the beauty of their own lives by taking photos of their lives and sharing the stories behind the photos;at the group level, female LTC insurance workers proactively built peer support networks;and at the social level, female LTC insurance workers proactively advocated for themselves in the face of caregiving stress. The study found that women long term care insurance workers, who are in a disadvantaged position, show the resilience of "the weak not the weak" in the face of the pressure and dilemma of care work and family life as well as Shanghai drifting experience under the dual mobile life status. This study uses video voices as a new action research method to help the disadvantaged groups to build self-empowerment and self-help networks. It is expected to provide a reference for conducting action research on vulnerable groups. |
