Research On Social Care Service For The Elderly In Urban Distress Involved In Community Work

The ageing of the population is a current trend in the global demographic transformation.With the gradual ageing of the population,the number of elderly people in China’s cities is increasing year by year.In addition to the material security of a secure old age,the elderly also have greater needs in terms of medical care,spiritual comfort and daily care.When these needs are not met in a timely and effective manner,some of the urban elderly will fall into different degrees of hardship,and then become elderly in difficulty.In order to improve community governance and promote community development,communities should actively introduce professional forces to improve community services.Professional community social work,as a form of social work intervention,can meet community needs,solve community problems,help clients out of difficulties,improve the quality and effectiveness of community care services and promote community integration.Therefore,it is also the responsibility of professional community social work.In the course of my internship at the Federation of Community Social Organisations in H,W,I conducted in-depth research on the needs of the elderly in distress in community H and the existing matching situation,using the interview method and participatory observation method.In addition,community workers lacked professional skills,which made the services ineffective.Therefore,it is necessary to apply professional community work methods to improve the level of community care services for the elderly in distress;to propose improvement strategies to establish a social care system and improve the support network based on theories of care and social support;and to enhance the comprehensive service capacity of community workers and the effective use of their care service roles.On the one hand,building a social care system includes advocating the formulation of care service policies,improving the level of care services and raising public awareness to create a social care atmosphere;on the other hand,improving the social support network includes awakening family support,strengthening neighbourhood support and building community support.In the end,community services will be improved to address the care needs of the elderly in need and to improve the quality of life of the elderly in their twilight years.
