In recent years, with the arrival of China’s deep aging era,the attention of society, state and academic circles to the issue of old-age care has been raised again. The data shows that by the end of 2021,the number of elderly people aged 60 and over in China will reach 267 million, accounting for 18.9% of the total population. In 2035,the number of elderly people in China will exceed 400 million, accounting for more than 30% of the total population, and China will enter a stage of severe aging.By about 2050,the population of the elderly in China will reach its peak, which will bring great challenges to China’s pension system.Due to the large population base, large demand, great difference between urban and rural pension development, imperfect service system and other reasons, the improvement of rural pension service system is still in the exploratory stage. In addition, due to the restrictions such as the outflow of rural labor force, the increasing burden of children’s pension, the lack of professional service institutions and personnel, and poor economic conditions, which pension method is more suitable for rural elderly people and how to provide economical and professional pension services for rural elderly people has become an important issue.Combined with the actual situation in China and the development of foreign pension services, most scholars’ research and practice results show that home-based pension will be the most suitable way for the elderly in rural areas in China. This way of providing for the elderly is economical and affordable, which can enable the elderly to provide for the elderly in a familiar environment, increase the comfort of the elderly, reduce the pressure on their children to provide for the elderly, and obtain professional pension services provided by society and the state, which well guarantees the quality of the elderly. Some rural areas in China have begun to explore the practice of home-based care for the elderly. However, due to the short development time of social work in China, the research on the intervention of rural care for the elderly is still in its infancy, and the related service means, service concepts and professional service talents are still relatively lacking, which can not solve the problem of rural elderly care well. This paper mainly uses questionnaires and interviews to collect and analyze relevant information. The information of the elderly is collected by questionnaire, and the needs of the elderly are analyzed. It is concluded that the elderly have the following needs in providing for the elderly: economic support, life care, medical care, spiritual comfort, social support and ability development. After analyzing the needs of the elderly, through participating in the project of "Home Care for the Elderly with Special Difficulties" being implemented in W Town,we can understand the specific situation of the implementation of the old-age service in the process of participating, and find four main problems in the service: the main body of the service provider is single;Service personnel lack professional service skills training; The service content is imperfect and lacks continuity; The service ignores the social support of the elderly and their own ability development. Then, combining the needs of the elderly with the shortcomings of the project, the group activity of "Love is Sunset" was carried out in four stages, with the goal of strengthening the elderly’s own ability, increasing social support for the elderly and establishing contacts between the elderly, and using the group work to make up for the service defects and study its feasibility and scientificity. Finally, according to the problems found and the implementation of the group, four measures are put forward to solve the shortage of rural old-age services: professional training of service personnel, implementation of spiritual comfort services for the elderly;Attach importance to the improvement of the elderly’s own ability;Improve the social support network for the elderly;Establish a volunteer service team for the aged and mobilize community forces to participate in rural old-age services. In order to help similar old-age care services in the future to better improve the service effect and improve the quality of old-age care for the elderly in rural areas.
