Social Work Intervention In Cross-cultural Adaptation Of African Women In Guangzhou From The Perspective Of Middleme

In the context of globalization and global population mobility,the foreigner community in Guangzhou has been growing,and due to cultural differences,this group generally has cross-cultural adaptation problems,especially among African women in Guangzhou.It has become one of the urgent issues for the development of Guangzhou to explore ways to help this group to solve their cross-cultural adjustment problems and to help them better integrate into the city they have moved to.In this paper,we use unstructured interviews to collect data on the current situation of African women’s intercultural adaptation in Guangzhou,and investigate and analyze the current situation of African women’s intercultural adaptation in Guangzhou.On the other hand,they tend to interact with the same ethnic group in Guangzhou to satisfy their daily social life,and when they have to communicate with local Chinese,they will look for "intermediaries" such as children,husbands or close friends to achieve indirect When it is necessary to interact with local Chinese,they look for "intermediaries" such as children,husbands or close friends to achieve indirect communication.With regard to the intercultural adaptation of African women in Guangzhou,this paper uses the "middleman theory" as the analytical perspective,and through the analysis of the data from the interviewees of African women,it develops an explanatory framework of the "intercultural middleman theory" that facilitates or influences the intercultural adaptation of African women.The social work team is used to help African women adapt better through the incubation of intermediaries who can help them adapt cross-culturally.Through the participation of intercultural adjustment intermediaries in the social work practice of African women’s intercultural adjustment,a pre-post comparison using the Intercultural Adjustment Scale shows the importance of the intermediary group in the intercultural adjustment of African women in China.In response to the current reality of an increasing number of foreigners coming to China,actively exploring effective means of assisting foreigners coming to China to adapt cross-culturally is an important task of current immigration,i.e.,foreign-related social work.The research in this paper shows that cultivating and playing the role of intermediaries for intercultural adaptation can effectively facilitate the adaptation and integration of incoming foreigners in China.
