Gratitude is a traditional virtue of the Chinese nation.Implementing gratitude education on kindergarteners is conducive to inherit this tradition.Being grateful to parents and others,the society,and the nature has positive and lasting impact on the healthy growth of kindergarteners.Advocating gratitude education for kindergarteners helps them to cultivate good moral qualities and to promote their social development.Based on theories of social learning,life education,and emotional moral education,this study selected a senior class of kindergarten during the internship as the research object,and carried out an action research on gratitude education with picture books as a carrier to promote the level of gratitude of kindergarteners.First of all,this study analyzed kindergarteners’ levels of gratitude in terms of gratitude to parents and others,the society,and the nature with the methods of questionnaires,interviews,and observations to find out the current situation of kindergarteners’ gratitude development and the problems that exist;Secondly,researcher worked with co-teachers to determine the cultivation goals of children’s gratitude education,selected nine picture books to formulated specific goals and plans for this action research,and carried out three times of action research with the "plan-act-observe-reflect" research approach,making timely reflection on the effectiveness of activities after each round of action,keeping completing the training programs well;Thirdly,re-investigating kindergarteners’ gratitude after the action research,and analyzing the achievements and shortcomings of action research,based on this we proposed targeted suggestions for using picture books as a carrier for kindergarteners’ gratitude education.The results of the study: firstly,the level of kindergarteners’ gratitude was improved;secondly,the awareness of kindergarteners’ gratitude was enhanced;thirdly,the ability of kindergarteners’ gratitude emotional expression was promoted;fourthly,the practice of kindergarteners’ gratitude behavior was strengthened.Research suggestions: First,valuing the significance of picture books as a carrier for gratitude education;second,improve teachers’ ability to apply picture books into gratitude education;third,closing the ties between kindergarten and family to build a cooperation platform: fourth,infiltrating gratitude education into the daily life;fifth,create an appropriate environment for gratitude education and setting up gratitude education curriculum;sixth,integrating multiple educational resources and making the cooperation effect of family and kindergarten into work.
