The 2017 edition of the General High School Language Curriculum Standards organizes course content by learning task clusters,and the standards organize language learning content at the high school level into 18 task clusters.It is an important part of language teaching in senior high school.The standards clearly state that students should develop the ability to acquire,present and express information across media and improve their media literacy.In order to implement the requirements of the curriculum,the 2019 unified high school language textbook published by the People’s Education Publishing House has designed a special unit on "Cross-media Reading and Communication" in the fourth unit of the second book of Compulsory Studies-"Language Life in the Information Age".Three learning activities are set up in this unit,namely,"Understanding Multi-media","Making good use of Multi-media" and "Identifying Media Information".The purpose of the unit is not to teach reading to the learning materials,but to improve students’ media literacy,to guide them to cope with the new ways of communication and learning language in the information age,and to better adapt to language learning life.Since cross-media reading is a new teaching method,teachers’ teaching and students’ learning face new challenges.Therefore,the author of this paper intends to study the current situation of cross-media reading teaching implementation and further explore the strategies and methods of cross-media reading teaching in language learning.Based on the above understanding,the paper consists of five parts.In the introductory part,the significance of the topic is analyzed in detail based on the current language curriculum reform concept,the proposed new standards and the changes in the current language education environment.The first part of the paper,"Cross-curricular study",is the first part of the paper.In the first part of the paper,the concept of "cross-media reading instruction" is identified,and the advantages of this task group are introduced.In the second part,In the second part,the need for cross-media reading is explained in terms of the needs of the times,the requirements of the new curriculum,the development of media literacy and the layout of teaching materials.In the third part,the current situation of inter-mediated reading teaching,the author investigates the current situation of inter-mediated reading teaching in high school language,and conducts questionnaire analysis on students and teachers,and analyzes the causes of the problems at the teacher and student levels.The fourth part,the application strategies of cross-media reading teaching,is based on the analysis of the problems and the causes of the problems in the third part,and proposes strategies for the implementation and overall evaluation of cross-media reading teaching respectively.This section analyzes the unit layout and implementation suggestions for the unit "Language Life in the Information Age",which is a learning task group of "cross-media reading and communication" in the high school language textbook,and hopes to provide some help for educators to apply cross-media reading in language teaching practice.It is hoped that it will help educators to apply cross-media reading to language teaching.The concluding section summarizes the results of the thesis and reflects on the shortcomings.
