The middle school Chinese textbook edited by the Ministry of Education in 2017 presents a new compilation style,in which the help-reading system comprehensively reflects the editor’s intention.As one of the elements of Chinese textbook,the help-reading system is a medium for teachers’ teaching and students’ learning.Therefore,an in-depth study of the help-reading system in the textbook is a prerequisite for teachers’ teaching.With the literature research method,this study first outlines the features of the help-reading system for middle school Classical Chinese textbook edited by the Ministry of Education.In general,in the help-reading system,the methods of learning Classical Chinese are highlighted,the path of Classical Chinese is constructed,literature and cultural knowledge is integrated,and the beauty of "Classical Chinese" is suggested.The roles of elements are as follows: hints reflect the main points of reading Classical Chinese;notes are the basis for understanding the content of Classical Chinese;exercises are practical activities for turning knowledge into ability;fillers broaden the reading resources of Classical Chinese;and illustrations visually reproduce the images in mind.Then the current situation of using the help-reading system for Classical Chinese is investigated using the survey research method,and the existing problems are summarized,which includes the teachers’ lack of awareness of the value of the help-reading system for Classical Chinese and teachers’ inadequate use of the help-reading system for Classical Chinese.In view of the problems,the following suggestions were put forward for using the help-reading system for Classical Chinese based on the features of the help-reading system: first,it’s necessary to establish the teaching concept of using the help-reading system for Classical Chinese properly,and make good use of its supportive role.Second,teaching strategies for proper use of the help-reading system for Classical Chinese should be established to improve teaching efficiency.Finally,teachers should guide students to use the help-reading system for Classical Chinese to improve learning efficiency.This paper aims to give full play to the teaching value of the help-reading system for Classical Chinese,to improve students’ core language literacy,and to provide some suggestions for front-line Chinese language teachers to teach Classical Chinese.
