| The number of stroke patients in China is large and the incidence rate is young. With the gradual improvement of medical conditions in China, people have become more open-minded and have changed their mindset to avoid medical treatment and have shifted their attention to post-stroke sequelae from focusing on physical aspects to taking into account both psychophysiological aspects. However,in the post-discharge community rehabilitation phase, patients and their families do not pay attention to the negative emotions of post-stroke depression. This has a serious impact on post-stroke rehabilitation and can lead to increased motor impairment, significantly reducing the quality of life of stroke patients. In this regard, can the social work profession help to alleviate the negative emotions and improve the quality of life of post-stroke depressed patients and their families through professional services during the rehabilitation phase of post-stroke depressed patients? To this end,the author selected a post-stroke depressed patient who had been ill for 1-5 years and had some verbal skills as a case worker.Through semistructured interviews, observation, and scales,we conducted an exploratory study on the manifestations and causes of negative emotions in post-stroke depressed patients, and explored effective ways to alleviate negative emotions in post-stroke depressed patients. In the process of specific interventions, the psychosocial model of case social work was selected as the theoretical guide through the collection and assessment of the client’s data, and direct interventions were used to serve the client and indirect interventions were used to serve the client’s family, helping the client to change misconceptions, create a harmonious family atmosphere, and reconstruct the client’s interpersonal support network. The ultimate goal was to alleviate the negative emotions caused by post-stroke depression, improve the client’s self-efficacy,reduce the sense of stigma, promote physical recovery, and help the client to face the rest of her life with a positive attitude. From the overall service process and assessment results, the following conclusions can be drawn: by highlighting the strengths of the caseworker, empowering the caseworker and raising the caseworker’s self-esteem level;using the acquisition of effective emotional self-control skills;creating a harmonious family atmosphere and establishing an effective social support system can improve the negative emotions of post-stroke depression in the following ways. Thus far,the psycho-social treatment model in the casework approach is effective in improving the negative mood of poststroke depressed patients, and its feasibility and effectiveness provide new ideas for improving the negative mood of post-stroke depressed patients. |
