Computing ability is an important skill for elementary school students and plays an important role in mathematics learning. The effective cultivation of primary school students’ mathematical computing ability will have an impact on their growth and development. The "Mathematics Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)" states that "computational ability mainly refers to the ability to perform correct calculations based on rules and algorithms." It requires students in the compulsory education stage to,Being able to clarify the objects and meanings of operations, understand the relationship between algorithms and algorithms, understand the problems of operations, choose reasonable and concise operation strategies to solve problems, and promote the development of mathematical reasoning ability through operations. It can be seen that cultivating the operational ability of primary school students is very important. The age characteristics and knowledge content of the fifth grade primary school students determine that this stage is the key period to improve the students’ mathematical operation ability. However, there are many problems in the actual operation teaching that affect the improvement of students’ mathematical operation ability. In theory, there is also a lack of empirical research on practical operation. Therefore, action research on the fifth grade primary school mathematical operation teaching is carried out.The researcher conducts a semester of teaching action research through the school where he/she works. In this study, literature, interviews, tests and action research were used.Firstly, through interviews with teachers and pre action tests, the current situation of mathematical operation teaching in fifth grade primary school is analyzed, and the problems and reasons in fifth grade operation teaching are analyzed. The main reasons are:(1)low interest in operation;(2)Unclear calculation and algorithm;(3)Weak awareness and ability to simplify calculations;(4)Unable to find quantitative relationships and weak reasoning ability.(5)Poor operational habits.Based on the above reasons, the researchers have developed the first round of action plan, which mainly cultivates students’ interest in arithmetic through diversified evaluation.Through arithmetic teaching and mental arithmetic training, they help students understand arithmetic and master algorithms, while also cultivating their reasoning ability and arithmetic habits. The second round of action research is based on the results of the first round of action research, and the core issue is to further develop students’ computing ability. And by building a scientific and systematic evaluation system,we will continue to maintain students’ interest in arithmetic, further promote students’ understanding of arithmetic and mastery of algorithms through the teaching of arithmetic review courses and paying attention to the learning of students with learning difficulties, continue to cultivate students’ reasoning ability through the "One Question per Day" lecture activity, and continue to cultivate students’ good calculation habits by cultivating their habit of organizing wrong questions. Each round of action research consists of four parts: "problem analysis, action plan, action implementation and reflection summary".Based on two rounds of action research, the effective teaching strategies for the cultivation of computing ability in the fifth grade of primary school are extracted:(1)scientific and systematic evaluation can stimulate and maintain students’ interest in computing(2)focus on the teaching of computing and algorithms, and promote students’ understanding of computing Mastering algorithms(3)The cultivation of awareness and ability in simple calculation is the key to improving computational ability(4)The cultivation of mathematical reasoning ability is a higher pursuit of computational teaching(5)The cultivation of good computational habits is a powerful guarantee for the cultivation of computational ability. The researchers hope that this study can provide inspiration and reference for other mathematics teachers in operational teaching.
