Supervisor is the first responsible person for postgraduate training,and shoulders the noble mission of cultivating high-level innovative talents.The level of mentoring ability determines the quality of postgraduate training,and the level of mentoring team determines the level of the whole postgraduate education.In order to further strengthen the quality of the construction of supervisors’ team,the Ministry of Education has formulated the Guidelines for Supervisors’ Mentoring Behavior.The formulation of the guidelines puts forward specific requirements for mentoring behavior and clarifies the basic norms of mentoring behavior,which is both an urgent need for the growing team of supervisors and an inevitable requirement for promoting the high-quality development of graduate education.The supervisor team is not only a key element affecting the quality of graduate education,but also an important symbol to measure the level of running a university.Therefore,in order to accelerate the construction of first-class supervisors and ensure the quality of high-level talents cultivation,universities must further improve the institutional system,regulate the mentoring behavior and cultivate the mentoring ability.The research is entitled "Research on the problems and countermeasures of postgraduate supervisors’ mentoring ability development in universities in Heilongjiang Province",and is based on theories related to teachers’ professional development,humanistic management theory and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory.The study was conducted in 19 universities with graduate schools in Heilongjiang Province.The introductory section used literature analysis method to sort out and analyze the research results on the cultivation of postgraduate supervisors’ mentoring ability in universities at home and abroad.Based on the national policy documents and teachers’ professional development theory,it summarized and extracted the elements of mentoring ability and the new requirements of cultivating mentoring ability of postgraduate supervisors’ in universities in Chapter 1,so as to lay the foundation for the research.Chapter 2 adopted the survey research method to investigate the documents and work content of postgraduate supervisors’ in Heilongjiang universities and summarize the content,so as to find out the achievements of supervisor training in Heilongjiang universities.Chapter 3 summarized the common problems in the current situation of supervisor training,and found that there are common problems in some universities in Heilongjiang Province,such as the supervisor selection method still needed to be improved,the supervisor training system at the school,college and professional levels was not sound,the exchange of mentoring experience was not guaranteed,the supervisor evaluation mechanism was not perfect and the supervisor incentive mechanism had not been established in most universities,and analyzed the causes of the problems.Chapter 4 used the case study method and comparative study method,it summarized and learned from the excellent case experiences of mentoring ability cultivation of postgraduate supervisors’ in domestic and foreign universities.Chapter 5 in based on the theory of human management and Maslow’s theory of hierarchy of needs,it focused on strengthening the importance of mentoring ability cultivation,effectively strengthening the organization and leadership,exploring and improving the new selection criteria of postgraduate supervisors’,establishing a normal mentoring training system at the three levels of school,college and professional,and creating opportunities for mentoring experience exchange.The study proposes to stimulate the enthusiasm of postgraduate supervisors’ and improve their supervisory ability by creating opportunities for learning and exchange of supervisory experience,improving the dynamic and scientific evaluation mechanism of mentoring ability and establishing an incentive system for excellent postgraduate supervisors’.The research discusses the improvement of the initiatives related to the cultivation of the mentoring ability of postgraduate supervisors’ in Heilongjiang universities,and provides reference for improving the mentoring ability of postgraduate supervisors’ and thus the overall quality of graduate training.In conclusion,universities should further strengthen the emphasis on the cultivation of postgraduate supervisors’ mentoring ability,improve the relevant system,establish a scientific and systematic tutor cultivation mechanism,improve the overall level of the supervisor team,and create a high-quality postgraduate supervisor team.
