In the context of the Excellent Teacher Programme,understanding the level of professional competence of rural physical education teachers helps rural physical education teachers to improve their professional competence and drive the development of rural school physical education.The main body carrying out physical education in school physical education is the physical education teacher,and the level of development of school physical education depends on the professional competence of physical education teachers.The study used the literature method,interview method,questionnaire method and mathematical statistics to explore the professional competence of rural primary and secondary school physical education teachers in primary and secondary schools in Pingli County,Shaanxi Province,and Fenxi County,Pu County and Zuoquan County,Shanxi Province,and to identify the reasons for the lack of professional competence and propose corresponding optimisation measures.The questionnaire was tested for reliability using the Cronbach alpha coefficient and validity using exploratory factor analysis,validating factor analysis and expert validity testing.Based on the findings,the following conclusions were drawn: firstly,demographically,there is a lack of highly educated talent and an older age group of rural physical education teachers.Second,the ability to practise teacher ethics,their own low sense of identity and insufficient care and guardianship for left-behind children.Thirdly,professional knowledge,with a single knowledge structure,a low level of motor skills and a weak ability to acquire knowledge and use artificial intelligence and big data.Fourthly,the ability to teach in a modern way.The teaching content is not properly connected,the arrangement of sports load is not reasonable,the teaching method is single,the ability to innovate is lacking and the criteria for evaluating students’ learning process is single.Fifthly,lifelong development ability,lack of teaching research and development and research capability,low frequency of participation in learning and exchange activities,and single social and interpersonal relationships.The overall mean score for the four dimensions was 3.75,indicating that the professional competence of rural physical education teachers is weak.The correlation analysis showed that there was a positive relationship between the two dimensions.According to the analysis of variance,gender does not affect the development of professional competence,while age and education affect the development of professional competence.Based on the above-mentioned questions,the factors that constrain the professional competence development of rural physical education teachers were analysed in terms of economic development,geographical influence,policy development at the social level,leadership attention at the school level and the individual level.Based on the above analysis,the optimization countermeasures are as follows: improve policy formulation and security system;Build evaluation mechanism and improve promotion system;Integrate social resources and share high-quality courses;Establish professional self-confidence and maintain an optimistic attitude;Adapt to the changes of the times and establish the concept of lifelong learning. |
