Abstract/Summary:
As artificial intelligence becomes the core driving force of a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, the distribution of labor and capital income caused by artificial intelligence has been widely concerned by the society. The sixth plenary session of the 19 th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China(CPC)clearly stated that high-quality development should be promoted to promote common prosperity. At the same time, the Chinese government proposed in 2030 to seize the global commanding heights of artificial intelligence. In this process, the key to achieving high-quality development and common prosperity is to deal with the problem of income distribution caused by new technologies.A review of previous literature finds that artificial intelligence technology has a negative impact on the ratio of labor income distribution. However, due to data limitations,it mainly focuses on phenomenon description and theoretical speculation, and lacks quantitative analysis. In particular, there is a lack of research on the influence mechanism of artificial intelligence on labor-capital income distribution. In addition, most of the existing researches on the progress of artificial intelligence technology and the distribution of labor and capital income are confined to the perspective of economics to elaborate their own views, and the inequity of income distribution relationship is simply attributed to the technical characteristics of artificial intelligence and market mechanism. It lacks the social attribute of technology and the social relation dimension of distribution from the perspective of historical materialism to the level of production relations. Therefore, this theis takes this as the starting point for research and analysis.First of all,on the basis of theoretical review, this theis clarifies the research concept and explores the internal relationship between technological progress and the distribution of labor and capital income.Second,on a historical materialism basis, analyse the social causes of the progressive capital bias in AI and how the use of AI affects labor-capital income distribution.Thirdly, combined with relevant theories and existing research, the theis analyzes the effect of artificial intelligence technology on labor and capital income distribution, the mechanism of industrial structure, the mechanism of skill employment structure and the mechanism of wage income gap are put forward.Based on the provincial panel data of China from 2008 to 2019,this theisempirically tests the effect and mechanism of AI on labor income distribution. Finally,on the basis of the theoretical and empirical conclusions, the theis puts forward some policy suggestions on how to coordinate the development of artificial intelligence and the distribution of labor and capital income. The conclusion of this theis mainly includes the following aspects.First,The capitalist application of artificial intelligence technology will lead to the polarization of Workers’ skills, the expansion of the scope of capital exploitation and the enhancement of power, which will aggravate the gap between labor and capital income distribution.Secondly, artificial intelligence will affect the distribution of labor and capital income through three paths:industrial structure, employment structure and wage gap.The path of widening wage gap is a masking effect rather than a traditional mediation effect, that is,controlling wage gap can significantly increase the negative effect of artificial intelligence on the ratio of labor to capital. Finally, the effect of artificial intelligence on the ratio of labor and capital distribution has regional heterogeneity, and it has a more significant inhibitory effect on the ratio of labor and capital distribution in the areas with less economic development and lower human capital level, this is mainly due to the uneven development of artificial intelligence and its impact on different labor forces caused by asymmetry.
