Practical Research On Group Work Involved In Sex Health Education For Junior High School Students

Adolescence is a critical period in the sexual development of junior high school students,and an important stage in the development of gender roles.The Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Protection of Minors of 17 October 2020 clearly stipulates that schools should carry out sexual health education activities appropriate to the age of minors.In the current situation of lack of sexual health education for junior high school students,social work intervenes in the sexual health education of junior high school students,relying on the concept of helping people,professional theories and practical methods of social work,to carry out research on the intervention of sexual health education for junior high school students,explore suitable ways of sexual health education for junior high school students,and analyses the feasibility of group work intervention in sexual health education for junior high school students.In this study,a random sample and semi-structured interviews were used to investigate the current situation of sexual health education among junior high school students in School S of Shandong Province.It was found that junior high school students in School S lacked scientific knowledge about sexuality,lacked formal channels for sexuality education and had insufficient scientific concepts of sexuality.In the process of practice,seven group activities were conducted with the guidance of social learning theory and cognitive behavioral theory,focusing on the needs of junior high school students to acquire scientific sexual knowledge,establish correct sexual values and improve their self-protection ability.Finally,the group work process and the effectiveness of the group services were evaluated by combining qualitative and quantitative methods.Through the evaluation of both the process and the outcome of the group approach to sexual health education for junior high school students,the objectives of the group activities were basically achieved,and all eight junior high school students who participated in the group activities had improved their sexual knowledge and their sexual attitudes had generally changed to some extent.Therefore,the practical study on the use of group work method in sexual health education for junior high school students is feasible and effective.
