| STEM center through the systematic integration of science, technology, engineering, mathematics four disciplines, students hands-on operation of experiential learning model as the carrier, trains the student to the interdisciplinary field of knowledge acquisition, cooperation and exploration, the ability to solve the problem of the real situation, the scientific inquiry ability development of small-class children plays a positive role in promoting. On the basis of summarizing and sorting out the literature related to "STEM education" and "design and implementation of small-class science regional activities",this study adopts action research method, interview method, questionnaire method and other research methods to take 19 front-line teachers and 60 children in a new small-class kindergarten in a district of Shanghai as the research objects.Through communication and collaboration with teachers,I designed a small class area activity "Baby Washing and Brushing" with STEM education concept as the core, and carried out action research for nearly 14 months. In the process, children’s behavior is combined with timely reflection and adjustment of activities, which provides a strong support of theory combined with practice for exploring, understanding and optimizing the activity design methods and strategies of small-class STEM science areas. It is found that small-class STEM science district activities improve children’s scientific thinking mode, enrich children’s knowledge and experience in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and stimulate children’s independent learning. In addition,it broadens teachers’ ideas to carry out STEM integrated education in small classes, and improves teachers’ ability to design and implement activities in small class areas. It is concluded that teachers’ deep understanding of STEM education is the premise of activity design;Aiming at the development of children’s scientific inquiry ability is the core of activity design. The key to implement activities is to create an environment that children can observe and operate easily.Encouraging children to explore and learn independently is the focus of the activities. |
