With the advent of the digital era characterized by “Big Bang Information”,the long-standing malpractices in the department instruction of basic education have begun to appear.Most scholars try to shift the direction of curriculum reform to comprehensive courses,but they have not yet studied thoroughly how to practice.In addition,some scholars have turned their sight to STEM education with a certain history and researching scale abroad.STEM education refers to the effective linking of science,technology,engineering,mathematics,etc.and aims for solving problems and completing projections.Simultaneously it pays close attention to learning motivation and developing practical abilities in integration,migration and application of knowledge for students by multiple studying activities such as self-directed learning,teamwork etc.This paper begins with the definition of STEM education meaning,core characteristics,general characteristics,etc.Moreover,this paper analyzes and compares the similarities and differences among STEM,Maker Education,Comprehensive Education and STS.Then this paper deepens the uniqueness of STEM education and proposes an extended curriculum as a method of STEM education.Then based on the theory of constructivism,a project design depending on STEM theory is explored and constructed,and using this model as a guide,a STEM project for high school biology was designed to extend the curriculum.This project based on project-based learning aims to make DNA necklaces and help students cultivate STEM literacy.Firstly,I'm going to take the overall design of the STEM project including the process.Secondly,I designed four Instructional designs to facilitate the teaching of teachers.The teaching practice was finally carried out in order to detect the science and practicality of the STEM project.The questionnaire survey was used to draw six feedbacks: All the students expressed their affection for the biological STEM project,and 80 percent of them said they liked it very much.62 percent of students support the application of STEM education in biological classrooms.Seventy-seven percent of students believe that the biology curriculum based on STEM is practical.Ninety percent of students agree that biology courses based on STEM education can stimulate students' interest in learning and maintain their attention,and 54 percent of them agree with it very much.Eighty-six percent of the students admitted that STEM courses have improved learning outcomes.Eighty-nine percent of students accepted the biology teacher's teaching whose curriculum based on STEM.Considering the length of teaching time and the number of students,the science and repetition of the biological STEM curriculum still need to be validated.In the later teaching practice,I will continue to practice and try my best to improve the STEM curriculum.At last,I offered some ideas about the development of STEM curriculum,as follows: Firstly,the whole society should vigorously advocate STEM education to promote the improvement of education system.Secondly,University Education should pay attention to the training of STEM quality,so as to strengthen the power of excellent teachers.Thirdly,primary and secondary schools should develop STEM education to indicate career direction.
