Background:Since the outbreak of COVID-19,the life status of substance use disorders(SUDs)has changed from"relatively closed"to"completely isolated",their mental health and emotional state are facing greater threats than before.Meanwhile,it has been proved by a large number of evidences that SUDs have cognitive impairment."Face to face"intervention has been proved an effective mean of improving emotional state and cognition. However, this intervention have been severely hampered by the pandemic. It is urgent to find a reasonable and effective exercise intervention method under the severe epidemic prevention situation so as to alleviate or improve SUDs’psychological state and cognitive function reduce their withdrawal symptoms, and achieve a balance between exercise intervention and epidemic prevention. At present, the state advocates all circles to execute relevant work in an"online"mode, and it still remains unknown whether"contact-free"exercise interventions have the same effect as traditional offline interventions. Therefore,on the basis of national opinions and realistic conditions, and taking into account the balance between exercise intervention research and epidemic prevention, this paper adopts the"online"mode—"online Tai Chi(TC)teaching and intervention"to study upon the psychological state and cognitive function of SUDs in the compulsory isolation. This paper aimed to explore the practical effect of the new"online"exercise intervention mode, and to provide possible help for the mental rehabilitation of specific population under special period.Participants and methods:A total of 90 male SUDs were recruited from Shanghai Gaojing Compulsory Isolation and Detoxication Center and randomly assigned to TC group(n=30),regular exercise(RE)group(n=30)and control group(n=23).The TC group underwent three1~1.5 hour online TC session 3 times per week for 12 weeks. The RE group underwent treadmill and free strength training intervention under the same frequency and time with TC group. The control group followed the daily intervention management of drug rehabilitation center.Baker Depression Inventory(BDI),Emotion Regulation Questionnaire(ERQ),Desires for Drug Questionnaire(DDQ),High Risk of Drug Relapse Questionnaire,Barratt Impulsiveness Scale(BIS),N-back(n=1,2)task and Flanker task were measured at baseline and at 12 weeks. For the questionaire data, the time(pre-test,post-test)and group(TC,RE,control)were analyzed using 2(time:pre-test,post-test)×3(group:TC,RE,control)repeated measures analysis of variance(ANOVA).For all cognitive data were analyzed using 2(time:pre-test,post-test)×2(condition:congruent and incongruent)×3(group:TC,RE,control)ANOVA.Results:The analysis of BDI revealed significant interaction between time and group[F(2,80)=37.42,p<0.01,η2=0.48].The analysis of expression inhibition dimension of ERQ revealed significant interaction between time and group[F(2,80)=5.24,p=0.007,η2=0.17].The analysis of DDQ revealed significant interaction between time and group[F(2,80)=33.25,p<0.001,η2=0.45].The analysis of loneliness factor in High Risk of Drug Relapse Questionnaire revealed significant interaction between time and group[F(2,80)=3.61,p=0.032,η2=0.08].For the 1-back task, the interaction effect between time and group was significant on accuracy[F(2,80)=3.75,p=0.028,η2=0.09].For the 2-back task, the interaction effect between condition and group was significant on accuracy[F(2,80)=3.38,p=0.039,η2=0.08]and reaction time[F(2,80)=16.33,p<0.001,η2=0.29].For the Flanker task, the interaction effect between time, condition and group was significant on reaction time[F(2,80)=6.09,p<0.05,η2=0.13].Conclusion:After 12-week online TC intervention, the depression, impulsivity level, drug craving and relapse tendency of SUDs decreased to different extent, and their emotional regulation ability, inhibitory control and working memory got improved.Compared with regular exercise intervention,TC was more prominent in reducing drug craving and relapse tendency. It is suggested that the online TC intervention mode based on videos is an effective exercise rehabilitation intervention method for SUDs in compulsory isolation under normal epidemic prevention.
