The Dilemma And Countermeasures Of Medical Social Workers’ Practice From The Perspective Of Embeddedness

As the construction of social welfare system and medical and health system continues to progress,medical social work is gradually taking root in medical and health institutions,communities and other places,and playing an increasingly important role.As a place with mature operation mechanism,hospitals have clear internal hierarchy,clear division of labor among functional departments,and clear plans for resource planning and allocation by the management and decision-making level within the hospital,while clinical departments,as internal components of hospitals,pay more attention to professional medical knowledge and skills.This also poses a challenge to the development of medical social work in hospitals.However,through the analysis of the relevant literature,This researcher found that medical social work has been gradually "embedded" in hospitals since its emergence in China.However,the embedding of medical social work in hospitals is not a smooth process,and there are many challenges and power games among the parties involved.Based on a few months of professional practice experience at the postgraduate level,the author analyzed a series of processes of medical social work practice through interviews with medical and nursing staff,social workers,and inpatients in the oncology department of Hospital S.The author believes that the process of medical social work practice can be divided into four stages:entry,presentation,transformation,and consolidation.The author believes that the embedding of medical social work in the hospital can be divided into four stages:entrance,demonstration,transformation,and consolidation,during which the social worker will inevitably face the dilemma of embedding,and the series of actions taken by the social worker to solve the dilemma have certain significance.In terms of the embedding process of social workers,the initial stage of embedding is superficial and direct,but as social workers establish relationships and define their roles and work contents in a subtle way,the attitudes of outsiders change and the degree of social workers’ embedding deepens,in order to help medical social work achieve "deep embedding",the author In order to help medical social work achieve "deep embedding",the author summarizes the embedding dilemmas faced in the process of embedding,such as identity positioning,patient response,spatial coexistence,etc.;and describes a series of long and deep service strategies carried out by the author to solve this dilemma,such as fighting for their own working space,gaining recognition from service recipients,establishing intra-hospital collaboration,etc.Finally,the paper reflects on the embedding process of medical social workers in Hospital S,and proposes different countermeasures from the perspectives of social workers themselves,universities and hospitals.Finally,the paper reflects on the embedding process of medical social workers in S hospital and proposes different countermeasures from the perspectives of social workers themselves,universities and hospitals,aiming to provide an example reference for the future embedding development of medical social work in public hospitals.
