A Study On The Practice Dilemma And Coping Strategy Of Medical Social Work Embedded Development

According to the latest global cancer burden data released by the Institute for Research on Cancer(IARC),China will have 4.57 million new cancer cases and 3million deaths in 2020,ranking first in the world in terms of the number of new cancer cases and cancer deaths.With the improvement of people’s living standards and current medical advances,the curability of cancer is gradually increasing and more people suffering from cancer are willing to opt for treatment.Of course,the problems of cancer patients,as a large and vulnerable group,are not only financial and physical,but also psychological in nature.Therefore,the introduction of social work in specialist hospitals treating cancer patients is an extremely important step,and it is crucial that social work can be effectively embedded in the healthcare system and make a difference.During my six-month post-graduate internship in the medical social work department of Provincial Cancer Hospital H,I found that the rapid development of medical social work in Provincial Cancer Hospital H was faced with many difficulties,which were manifested in the imperfect institutional design of the hospital,the ambiguous professional perception of medical social work by patients and the lack of professional competence of medical social workers themselves.The development of medical social work has been interfered with by the lack of professional services provided to patients by medical social workers.The author takes the development dilemma of medical social work in the oncology hospital in province H as the research object,takes embedded development as the theoretical guide,analyses the problems in the development of medical social work in the oncology hospital in province H through observation method,semi-structured interview method and literature method,and proposes corresponding countermeasures to summarize the path of embedded development of medical social work in the oncology hospital in province H.Through specific practical research,the author found that the dilemmas in the embedded development of medical social work in provincial oncology hospitals are summarized into three levels: institutional embedding dilemma,cognitive embedding dilemma,and professional embedding dilemma,and further analyzed that "reasonable and effective institutional design of hospitals is the foundation of embedding,correct cognition of medical social workers by patients is the premise of embedding,and professionalism of medical social work is the key to embedding.The conclusion is that " the hospital’s reasonable and effective institutional design is the foundation of embedding,the correct perception of medical social workers by patients is the prerequisite for embedding,and the professionalism of medical social work is the key to embedding.Finally,we propose three ways to solve the problem in terms of optimizing institutional design,forming a cognitive system and building a professional team.
