Starting from September 1,2017,primary and junior high schools in China began to use Chinese language textbooks compiled by the Ministry of Education.Under the guidance of new compilation concepts,the exercise system of the new textbooks has changed,attracting continuous attention and discussion.The exercise system is one of the essential components of the unified Chinese textbooks,together with the selection system,the assisted reading system,and the knowledge system,constituting an integrated learning experience for students and significantly impacting teachers’ instruction and students’ learning.Therefore,it is necessary to study the exercise system of the unified Chinese textbooks and their utilization strategies.This thesis consists of three parts:introduction,main body,and conclusion.The introduction part introduces the research background,objectives,significance,and methods of this topic,and reviews and evaluates the current research status in academia.The main body is divided into four chapters.Chapter 1 provides an overview of the exercise system of the unified junior high school Chinese textbooks.Firstly,it defines the relevant concepts of the exercise system;then it explores the historical development of the Chinese language textbook exercise system;and finally,using the United States and the United Kingdom as examples,it analyzes the characteristics of the exercise system in foreign junior high school native language textbooks,laying the foundation for further research on the unified junior high school Chinese textbooks.Chapter 2 focuses on a detailed study of the unified junior high school Chinese textbooks.Firstly,it categorizes the exercises in the exercise system of the six volumes according to question types and specific content;then it summarizes the compilation characteristics of the unified textbook exercise system;finally,it reveals the embodiment of "core literacy of the Chinese language discipline," an essential part of the new curriculum standard,in the unified textbook exercise system.Chapter 3 investigates and analyzes the current utilization of the exercise system in unified junior high school Chinese textbooks.Taking students and teachers from three junior high schools in Wuxi as the survey objects,questionnaires are designed from three perspectives:basic information,cognitive situation,and utilization situation,to understand the usage of the unified textbook exercise system and analyze the problems in actual teaching.Chapter 4,based on an in-depth study of the arrangement,utilization,and problems of the exercise system of the unified junior high school Chinese textbooks,combined with educational practice experience,proposes suggestions for optimizing usage from a teacher’s perspective.The conclusion part summarizes and reviews the research content and methods of this paper and points out areas that need improvement.
