A Study On The Social Integration Of The Old Drifters In The Digital Age

According to the seventh National Census,there are more than 260 million people aged 60 and older,some of whom leave their hometown to support their careers and take care of their grandchildren.They are called "old drifters".As a typical representative of the floating population,the "old drifters" help them expand the social relationship network of their current residence and strengthen the social support network in the context of the digital age.Their old social relations disrupted by mobility are also maintained through the use of digital media,which enables them to connect and switch between different spaces in the context of the digital age,which plays a very important role in improving the life happiness of the "old drifters".However,the development of the digital age will bring convenience to the "old drifters" like a double-edged sword and also cause obstacles.How to help the "old drifters"overcome the obstacles and make them better integrate into the society in the background of the digital age is a topic that needs to be thought about.Taking the digital age as the background,this paper understands the living status of 15 elderly people in Beijing,the reasons why they become "old drifters" and their plans for future life.Through in-depth interviews and participatory observation,we can understand the social integration of "old drifters" in the background of the digital age,and mainly analyze the value and obstacles of the social integration of "old drifters" in the digital age.The value function is mainly reflected in the compensation of spatial distance,the extension of interpersonal communication,the empowerment of social media and the interface of social integration.The obstacles caused are mainly reflected in the obstacles of social life,the risk of network identity,and the alienation of family relationship.Through the analysis of the social integration of "old drifters" in the digital age,this paper understands the current status of "old drifters" and discusses the reasons for affecting the social integration of "old drifters" in the digital age,mainly including low subjective willingness and great objective resistance.Finally,in view of the digital age cause "old drift" social integration into the obstacles put forward countermeasures and Suggestions:on the one hand is from the perspective of social work can empowerment intervention to provide comprehensive social work service method,on the other hand is to use social support theory to help them link social support resources,so as to better integrate into society.
