UbD theory is a backward instructional design theory in pursuit of understanding developed by American curriculum and teaching experts Grant Wiggins and Jay Mc Tighe.The application of the connotation of understanding and reverse teaching design to the teaching of art appreciation can better guide students to understand the spiritual connotation of excellent traditional Chinese culture,strengthen cultural self-confidence,and develop students’ core art literacy.The "General High School Art Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition)" takes the core literacy of fine arts as the core idea of the general high school art curriculum,which affects many elements of the curriculum and leads to corresponding changes in course content,teaching methods,and evaluation methods.On the one hand,the traditional art appreciation teaching mode cannot adapt to the curriculum system based on the core literacy of art disciplines.On the other hand,indoctrination teaching makes art appreciation only stay visual,which cannot enable students to truly understand the relationship between art and culture,nature and national tradition,which is not conducive to students establishing firm self-confidence in Chinese culture.Based on UbD theory,this study takes the course "Lyricism and Freehand-Literati Painting" as a case study for teaching design and practice,so as to meet the requirements of art appreciation classroom to promote excellent traditional Chinese culture,improve the effectiveness of high school art appreciation teaching,and develop students’ core literacy in art disciplines.This paper is mainly divided into five chapters: the first chapter is an introduction,which mainly expounds the research background,the purpose and significance of the research,the research methods,and the research status of UbD theory;Chapter 2 is the main connotation of UbD theory,mainly explaining the meaning of "understanding" in UbD theory,the three stages of reverse teaching design and teaching ideas.Chapter 3investigates and analyzes the teaching status of high school art appreciation and the teaching status of the course "Lyricism and Freehand-Literati Painting",and interviews with teachers;Chapter 4 is a case design of high school art appreciation teaching based on UbD theory,mainly discussing the course analysis of "Lyricism and Freehand-Literati Painting",expected learning objectives,evaluation evidence,and teaching activity design.The fifth chapter is the teaching practice of "Lyricism and Freehand-Literati Painting",which mainly discusses the teaching process,teaching summary and teaching reflection.
