| With the continuous expansion of the scale of higher education in China, the number of college graduates every year is constantly refreshing,at the same time, affected by the promotion of undergraduate and graduate enrollment expansion policy,As well as the sudden outbreak of COVID-19 at the end of 2019,which severely hit the global economy, the depression of the job market led to a more severe employment situation for undergraduate students. The recession of economic development has given more space for the development of social network,so family factors are more involved in the employment of students, and we also pay more attention to the employment expectations of undergraduates. Therefore, this paper will be associated with family capital and students’ employment expectations, through questionnaire survey,in-depth interview, explore the mechanism of family capital affecting undergraduate employment expectations, and on this basis,to provide suggestions for the employment of undergraduate students in Chinese universities. In this paper,by combining the quantitative and qualitative research methods,in bourdieu, social stratification theory, social capital theory the intergenerational transmission of capital on the basis of the theory and the theory of career development, through the description and analysis, variance analysis, correlation analysis and regression model, and then to interview a family factors of affecting employment expectations for depth profiling. The questionnaire survey objects of this study are concentrated in 6 representative undergraduate universities in Nanjing,Jiangsu Province, and 772 questionnaires are issued and 750 valid samples are finally recovered.In-depth interviews are mainly conducted with the most typical samples in the data survey results.Through data analysis,it is found that:Among the research objects, the economic capital of the family is generally at the middle level, and there is a two-level differentiation phenomenon. The social capital of the family is generally at the middle level or even lower, indicating that ordinary families occupy a large proportion, the cultural capital of the family is average, and the educational level of the parents is mainly middle and high school, and the proportion of parents receiving higher education is relatively low.Gender in undergraduate work units, industry selection, work attitude and colleagues recognized there exist significant differences, different grade students for preferences exist significant differences in the working area, higher education and junior and senior students pay more attention to one’s deceased father grind, different registered students exist differences in expected monthly salary,non-agricultural household register students more affected by the outbreak.Through correlation and regression analysis,it is found that family economic status, social network resources and family cultural atmosphere all have certain influence on undergraduates’ employment expectation.(1)Family economic capital significantly affects the monthly salary expectation of undergraduates, and there is a positive correlation. The richer family economic capital is,the higher the expected monthly salary standard of undergraduates is;Family economic capital has a negative correlation with undergraduates’ choice of employment areas. The number of graduates who choose first-tier cities for employment is less than that of new first-tier cities and second-tier cities.Families with high economic capital are less likely to return to their hometown for employment, and are greatly affected by the epidemic.(2)Family social capital has a significant impact on the nature of work units and self-employment of undergraduates, and there is a positive correlation.Parental occupation type has a significant impact on the work units of undergraduates. The higher the proportion of children whose parents work in enterprises and institutions, the higher the proportion of children who choose work units within the system. The more developed the family social network is,the more social resources parents provide for their children, the more likely undergraduates are to start their own business. The social capital of the family is average, the possibility of the undergraduate returning to the household registration is greater.(3)Family cultural capital has a positive impact on undergraduates’ intention to pursue postgraduate education. The higher the educational level of parents is,the stronger the intention of undergraduates’ intention to pursue postgraduate education is;The stronger the family cultural atmosphere is,the more likely the children are to choose a career that can give play to their interests, the more active they are in pursuing a career, and the less they care about the degree of work dignity.Based on the above research, the paper puts forward that the government should establish and perfect employment policy mechanism to create a relatively fair employment environment for graduates. At the level of colleges and universities, colleges and universities should actively carry out employment guidance lectures, open employment courses,to help students understand the basic information of employment preparation; At the family level, parents should pay attention to the role of family capital in their children’s employment and give their children enough support and help.At the level of students, students should also pay attention to improve their employment skills and rationally develop human resources to help them get a better job. |
