The Impact Of Family Cultural Capital On The Social Development Of Young Children

The family is the initial place for everyone’s social development,responsible for promoting the social development of young children.Research on the social development of young children shows that family factors such as parents’ parenting style,the amount of books owned by the family,and parents’ education level are closely related to the social development of young children.These family factors will affect the social development of young children in different forms and ways.Existing research has focused more on analyzing the relationship between various family factors and the social development of young children.However,this study,from the sociological perspective of family cultural capital,integrates the elements in the family and systematically explores the impact of family cultural capital on the social development of young children.Based on the content of previous questionnaires,cultural capital theory and suggestions from experts and scholars,the household cultural capital survey questionnaire is compiled and revised,and combined with local actual situations to make it more suitable.In addition,in the research results,the impact path of family cultural capital on the social development of young children is added and analyzed.This study selected 451 young children from 6 kindergartens in C city as the research subjects through convenient sampling.Quantitative research methods were used to develop the "Questionnaire on Family Cultural Capital of Young Children" and the "Social Development Scale for Children aged 4-7".Data analysis software was used to analyze the relationship between family cultural capital and social development of young children,in order to further study the impact of family cultural capital on their social development.The research conclusion is as follows:Firstly,the three types of family cultural capital have a significant positive correlation with most dimensions of early childhood social development,and can positively predict their social development.Secondly,the concrete cultural capital of the family and the cultural capital of the family object directly and positively affect the emotional stability,non aggression,and overall social development of young children,while the cultural capital of the family system plays an indirect positive role through the above two forms.Thirdly,family specific cultural capital is the most important factor affecting the social development of young children,among which parental support for their social development has the greatest impact on their social development and can play a positive predictive role.Based on the above research conclusions,this article proposes the following suggestions:emphasizing the utility of family specific cultural capital;Improving the quality of cultural capital of family objects;Focus on the weak dimensions of early childhood social development;Parents collaborate to promote the functioning of the family.This study aims to explore the relationship and pathways between family cultural capital and the social development of young children,enrich the relevant content of family cultural capital,and provide reference for promoting the good development of young children’s social development in the family.
