| "Compulsory Education Mathematics Curriculum Standards(2011 Edition)" regards geometric intuition as one of the ten core concepts,which to a certain extent highlights the value of geometric intuition in promoting students’ learning and improving mathematical literacy.It is self-evident to attach importance to the development and improvement of students’ geometric intuitive ability.In order to understand the current situation of elementary school students’ geometric intuition ability,this study took fifth grade students as the research object,and distributed questionnaires to 350 students from three schools of different levels in Q City,Shandong Province.An analysis of data on student test scores yielded the following findings:1.The overall level of elementary school students’ geometric intuition ability is not high;2.Elementary school students have the best ability to form graphs;3.Elementary school students have the weakest ability to analyze problems using graphs;4.The dimensions of analyzing problems using graphs are significantly correlated with other dimensions;5.There is no significant gender difference in the geometric intuitive ability of primary school students;6.There are significant inter-school differences in the geometric intuitive ability of primary school students.Combined with student interviews,the students’ test questions are further analyzed,and it is found that the students’ geometric intuitive ability has the following problems: 1.It is difficult to correctly understand the characteristics of geometric figures;2.Insufficient understanding of the movement and changes of figures;3.It is difficult to correctly read what the figures represent 4.The ability to draw and describe and analyze problems is weak;5.It is difficult to use graphs to establish quantitative relationships;6.The idea of using graphs to analyze problems is single.In response to the above problems,this research uses classroom observation and interview methods to find the factors that affect students’ geometric intuition ability from three subjects: students themselves,teachers and schools,and puts forward suggestions for improving students’ geometric intuition ability from two aspects of school and teacher teaching.On the one hand,the school should create a platform that is conducive to cultivating geometric intuitive ability: 1.Create a teacher development platform to improve teachers’ professional quality;2.Create a student activity platform to cultivate students’ flexibility of thinking.On the other hand,teachers should also improve students’ geometric intuitive ability from multiple perspectives in teaching:1.Cultivate students’ interest and feel the value of geometric intuition;2.With the help of intuitive models,enrich students’ geometric experience;3.Pay attention to operation guidance to cultivate students’ drawing skills;4.With the help of modern information technology,the dynamic transformation of graphics can be visually presented. |
