Nowadays,with the widespread popularity of smart mobile devices and the rapid development of network technology,the main carriers of people’s information exchange have gradually become various social media.As a kind of network language that can supplement or partially replace text,emoticons have been widely popularized and used.At present,as an indispensable part of people’s daily online information exchange activities,emoticons have attracted more and more attention from researchers,but the research on emoticons in specific situations is not in-depth enough.This study mainly explores the factors that affect the behavioral intention of using emojis in information communication on Wechat between college students and their parents,and tries to find out whether there is correlation between the influencing factors of each dimension,and what variables affecte these dimensions.This study first conducted qualitative study in which the original data was obained through semi-structured interviews and critical incident technique,and analyzed by grounded theory.And then the study carried out a quantitative research that designed questionnaire to collect data according to the result of root,used SPSS to analysis data,and finally explored the influence factors on the usage intention of emoticons in the Wechat communication between college students and their parents.The research shows that creating communication conditions,improving communication efficiency,perceived understandability,perceived ease of use,communication object factors,accurate information delivery,and effective information reception positively affect the willingness to use emojis.According to the analysis results of these data,the following four suggestions are put forward in combination with college students’ behavior of using emojis when communicating with their parents on Wechat.First,use emoticons rationally to enhance intergenerational communication between families.Second,create emojis innovatively to adapt to parent-child communication situations.Thirdly,use emoticons appropriately to improve users’ information literacy.Fourth,reinforce the management of emoticons and improve the operating mechanism of the platform.
