This study focuses on the problem of low self-worth of caregivers who specialize in caring for the elderly with dementia in elderly care institutions.The current research has little research on institutional caregivers,and the self-worth of institutional caregivers is less concerned.Pay more attention to the behavior and psychological pressure of caregivers under the home-based care model.The low self-worth of institutional caregivers is not only related to their own health,but also to the access to services for the elderly with dementia.Therefore,based on the Satir model,this study aims to improve the self-worth of institutional caregivers for the elderly with dementia.valid mode.This paper adopts the method of action research,based on the Satir model,and takes the group work method as the practical entry point of the research to improve the self-worth of the caregivers of the demented elderly in the elderly care institutions.The research question of this paper is whether the Satir model can intervene in institutional caregivers of the elderly with dementia to improve their sense of self-worth?How effective are the Satir model-related change tools during group activities?What challenges did the Satir model change tool encounter during group activities?How to overcome these challenges?Among the recruited caregivers,12 caregivers were identified as the service objects of the group work.The recruited caregivers conducted semi-structured interviews to understand the situation and actual abilities of the group members.The researchers divided the group process into five sections,namely "our posture","knowing yourself’,"weather forecast","family sculpture",and "exploring the secrets of the original family".The related content is survival.Coping Postures,Iceberg Theory,Weather Forecasts,Family Sculpture,Family Maps,and the Wheel of Influence.Through five sections of group activities,social workers combined the subjective feedback of group members and the actual effect of intervention in the group process.The study found that five group interventions effectively improved the client’s sense of self-worth.The self-acceptance of the group members enables the group members to gain the power to change;second,the group members are aware of the automatic response mode and form a consistent communication mode;third,the unmet expectations of the group members are explored,and the resources of the original family are explored;fourth Focus on positive forces and improve the communication skills of group members.In addition,there are some challenges in the group intervention,such as the short time of group activities,the absence of group members,the lack of in-depth group exploration,and the limitations of the researcher’s personal ability.The researchers put forward corresponding suggestions for these challenges. |
